I am 23 weeks pregnant, and a little earlier today, when I went to the bathroom I had a strange very thick discharge. I am concerned. Could it have been the Mucus plug?
Just a little more info. I just got over Bronchitis a couple of weeks ago, and now seem to have a bad cold. I am scared, anyone with any suggestions......
AS I stated in my ? I have called the DR , just waiting on a call back.Waiting on call back from dr. ....Any Advice?
I am a mom to five and a lot of times when you are pregnant you have very heavy discharge, it's good you called your MD, do not worry, that does more damage then most anything else, congrats and good luckWaiting on call back from dr. ....Any Advice?
Well the further along you get the more of a discharge you normally get.
I think it is totally normal.
A mucus plug looks like nasty snot. Bloody, maybe even brownish....stringy and gross.
You can tell the difference between discharge and the mucus plug.
And as for having bronchitis...i had it to and they gave me some antibiotics that were safe to take with baby.
Erythromyicin or ERG 333 Tabs.
I doubt it was your mucus plug...was it bloody at all?
You may have a yeast infection.....VERY common in pregnancy and no big deal...also a lot of heavy discharge is totally normal in pregnancy.
I would get a blood test, to be sure you don't have an infection in your system....did you take an antibiotic? They can increase the risk of yeast infection.
Try to stay calm, it is normal to be scared. I'm sure you are ok.
My contractions had started before I lost the mucus plug. Do not know if it is different for each woman. Remain calm though and wait for your Doctor to call. If he doesn't get back to you soon, call again. YOU pay him to take care of you.
I have heavy discharge a lot and sometimes its thicker than others. I think your doctor will want to see you to make sure. To ease your mind a little, I had a friend who lost her mucus plug at 31 weeks and they had to induce her because she went full term and was at 41 weeks.
Newp... is just discharge. Welcome to being pregnant LOL You could have a yeast infection though.
If your discharge has changed from what you have been seeing throughout your pregnancy then I would also be concerned. Are you having frequent braxton-hicks contractions as well? The Dr. should send you to Labor and Delivery and maybe do a fetal fibronectin swab (this can definitively tell you if you will go into premature labor within 24-48 hours) and evaluate your cervix. Also, if you have a fever, you should also call that as an urgent matter. Good luck.
Take a deep breath and remember that the mucous plug can, and generally will regenerate if you loose a piece or even all of it.
You will probably have to go in tomorrow for him/her to check your cervix for dilation.
Secondly, you sound like you have been very sick... that's not good. How is your diet? Are you getting 100g of protein each day. Are you eating plenty of green leafy vegetables or taking suppliments of oat straw, alfalfa, red raspberry leaf or seaweed? Are you taking too much iron? Are you drinking enough water. Are you getting enough rest.
Take care.
