Best SSRI/NI? See dr. this week. Advice welcome.?

I have taken 80mg Prozac/day for 10 years. Depression difficulties returning. Dr. wants to augment with Pamelor 25mg/day. I wonder if trying another SSRI/NI would be better. Appointment in two days.

Your advice asap with thanks.Best SSRI/NI? See dr. this week. Advice welcome.?
I take generic Wellbutrin SR (150 mg) in the morning, and Lexapro (10 mg) with dinner, for depression and anxiety. I've been taking that for over two years, and it's working very well for me.

The Wellbutrin SR seems to help me to be more alert and active - and wanting to do things - while the Lexapro makes me more mellow, and it helps me sleep better, too. They are relatively low doses of each medication, which keeps side effects at a minimum. I really can't tell I'm taking any medication at all.

You might try the Wellbutrin SR instead of Pamelor, I have heard of a lot of people taking Wellbutrin SR with SSRI's, it works well and it helps counter some of the more common side effects of the SSRI's.Best SSRI/NI? See dr. this week. Advice welcome.?
If you're dealing with depression, I would personally prescribe an antidepressant that effects dopamine levels. For instance, I've had patients with great results on Wellbutrin. The SSRI, Prozac, might definitely be needed; however, often those medications have more of an effect on anxiety issues and mood, rather than depression.

Best of Luck.
All SSRI's should act the same way. However I wouldn't recommend adding the Pamelor. Wellbutrin is a different type of anti-depressant. Ask him about that vs. adding the pamelor with the prozac.
