she was fine last night but woke up with it. she is four weeks old! any advice will be helpful. thanks!NEwborn baby with little cough and sniffles any advice? dr. not open yet.?
Because she is so young, you should def. have the pediatrician check up on her to make sure it doesn't develop into anything more serious. For now, you can just use a humidifier or steam up the bathroom with a hot shower. Sit with her in there to unclog her airway. When she sleeps, elevate her head a bit so she is at an angle. If you're nursing, keep nursing her as much as possible so she still receives your antibodies. If she has a fever, you might have to offer Tylenol, but....

Please do not offer medicine just yet. Your doctor will let you know the correct dosage. Also, the tylenol is just meant to alleviate a fever. There are no longer any cough medicines for infants. Those same meds were often proven to not work. You just have to let the virus run its course.

For now, just kiss and cuddle her and keep her comfortable!NEwborn baby with little cough and sniffles any advice? dr. not open yet.?
she might just have allergies. children and adults always get small things like that off and on. don't worry about a thing. now call the doc if shes not eating at all or not wetting dippers if she has a temp. that's the time to call someone.
usually if you put a clean warm water wash cloth gently over the face and let the baby breath through it it helps to relieve congestion. And use a humidifier in the room, or a pot of boiling water on the stove to put moisture in the air.
iN ADDITION TO TAKING HER TO THE DR., i WOULD USE A HUMIDIFIER IN HER NURSERY, AND KEEP SUCTIONING THE GUNKY STUFF FROM HER NOSE (YEAH, i KNOW SHE'LL HATE IT)...
Suction out her nose and get a humidifier.
My baby's doctor said to use saline and the bulb syringe to get the mucus out of her nose and a humidifier in her room. I use little remedies brand.
I went through the same thing and since this ban on childrens meds it can be rough. The most effective way I found with dealing with the sniffles and cough is to steam up your bathroom take her shirt off and rub a little vicks on her chest and sit in the steam for 10 minutes or so. Then break out the dreaded nose bulb. It helps. If you do get to the doctor ask about a thing called NEO drops. They gave my son some and he was better in like two days...its wonderful to have on hand!
If she is congested, take her into the bathroom and let the shower run. The steam will help her sinuses drain if they're congested. If it gets to hot in the bathroom, open the door to let it air a bit. Make sure to cal the doctor as soon as they open because she is very young, it's best to have her seen.

Good luck.
what worked for me with the sniffles was breastfeeding her in the shower with the hot water running... obvioulsly not getting wet or anything but to fill the room with steam.

also a humidifier in the room. with the cough i'm not sure... def go see the doc cuz u want to rule out anything serious.

just cover her with lots of love and attention.
