As I've said in previous questions, I'm a recovering anorexic. The other day, I was at a grocery store where they had one of those blood pressure checkers, and my friends and I all decided to take our blood pressure. Though my pressure fell within a normal range, my pulse was fairly low (only 44 beats per minute)
First of all, is this a dangerous issue to have? Secondly, I had heard that slow pulse rate means slow metabolism...so does this mean my metabolism has slowed? Can I speed it up again by trying to eat more??
I know exercise can also speed metabolism, but as part of my recovery, I am not allowed to exercise right now.
ThanksDr.'s advice please...slowed heartbeat=slow metabolism??
Slow heart rate does NOT mean slow metabolism. My heartrate is usually in the forties to fifties at rest and I workout at the gym. My metabolism is fine. Please stop obessing over every little thing. I know you are recovering and I hope you are eating right. Just remember that this life you are living is the only one you have, no second chances, so make the best of this life and be happy.Dr.'s advice please...slowed heartbeat=slow metabolism??
DO you check your thyroid?
I don't know how severe you anorexia was, you probably damages something outs in your body. You have to make sure that now if you eating better, eat something that is healthy, it means whole foods, organic, NO PROCESS FOODS for now, eat fruits and vegetables, red meat, etc.
Another thing do you done a test to check you iron level, B12 or maybe something outs deficiency.
Good luck to you, but the extremes are never the answer for any health related issue.
