So this is my third pregnancy both previous were sections and I am having a repeat with this baby. I am 37 weeks and have been contracting all day and night today 14-15 minutes apart about 35 seconds long and on the pamphlet from my dr. says only to call when you have more than five in an hour. And I have had that problem before and called and they said to drink something cold and lay on my left side and if they get to being 7 minutes apart to call back. Well I have already tried water and left side and I am still contracting ever 14-15 min. for 30-35sec. each. I can physically feel her head pushing down and I am hurting like hell. I want to call the dr. but I know they are either going to tell me to call back when they get closer or to go to L%26amp;D and let them check me out. The only thing is I know my cervix was only 75% effaced and I wasn't dilated but a figertip fWhat would you do? Please don't be rude I know none of you are dr.'s I'm not asking for medical advice!!!?
I would say call the OB and get ready to go in....especially if you are going to need a section. What would you do? Please don't be rude I know none of you are dr.'s I'm not asking for medical advice!!!?
sorry but um, if you know were not doctors, y would you be asking for MEDICAL advice? go to the emergency room, you're having a baby!!!

I have many-many knots of LYPOMA(diposited fats)in my body. Dr. say leave it like this or get oprated. Advice.
I m 32 now. My brother have this same disease too. Earlier it was small in size but now it seams that it have grown up. May be because I have put on some weight. I m not sure. It doesn't pain me. First it started from my both the arms. Then I saw the same knots on the other parts of my body. Dr. says there is no treatment for this. I tried Homeopathic but I was not regular in taking the medicine. But I never believed that. Kindly advice .
Is this curable ? Is there any solution of this disease ?I have many-many knots of LYPOMA(diposited fats)in my body. Dr. say leave it like this or get oprated. Advice.
Introduction
A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty tumor situated between the skin and the muscle layer. Often a lipoma is easy to identify because it moves readily with slight finger pressure. It's doughy to touch and usually not tender. You could have several that persist for years. Lipomas can occur at any age, but they're most often detected in middle age.
Signs and symptoms
A lipoma is a flattened lump located just under the skin. It feels soft and doughy and moves easily with slight finger pressure. Lipomas often occur in the neck, shoulders, back, arms and thighs.
Most often, lipomas remain small 鈥?less than 5 centimeters in diameter 鈥?but they can grow large, reaching more than 20 centimeters across. Lipomas can be painful if they grow and press on nearby nerves. Because it grows slowly, you might have a lipoma for years before you notice it.
A lipoma isn't cancer and is usually harmless. Treatment generally isn't necessary, but if the lipoma is in a bothersome location, is painful or is growing, it should be removed.
Causes
The exact cause of lipomas isn't clear. Sometimes lipomas are detected after an injury. But it's uncertain whether they're caused by the trauma or whether their detection was just incidental. Lipomas also tend to run in families, so genetic factors likely play a role in their development.
When to seek medical advice
A lipoma is rarely a serious medical condition. But if you notice a lump or swelling anywhere on your body, it's best to have it checked by your doctor.
Screening and diagnosis
A doctor can make a diagnosis by physical examination of the lump. If there's any doubt, your doctor may do other tests, such as a biopsy or removal of tissue.
There's a very small chance that a lump resembling a lipoma may actually be a form of cancer called liposarcoma. Liposarcomas 鈥?cancerous tumors in fatty tissues 鈥?grow rapidly, don't move under the skin and are usually painful. A needle biopsy or a CT scan is typically done if your doctor suspects liposarcoma.
Treatment
If you have a lipoma, no treatment is usually necessary. However, if the lipoma is in a bothersome location, is painful or is growing, your doctor might recommend that it be removed. Treatments include:
Steroid injections. This treatment shrinks the lipoma but usually doesn't completely eliminate the tumor. Steroid injections are typically used with smaller tumors 鈥?those less than 2.5 centimeters in diameter.
Liposuction. This treatment uses a needle and a large syringe to remove the fatty tumor. Liposuction is usually done when the lipoma is in a location where you want to avoid a large scar. It's difficult to remove the entire tumor with this technique.
Surgical removal. Larger lipomas are best removed by surgically cutting them out. Recurrences after removal are uncommon.
Being the cause is uncertain and has genetic involvement I don't think that there is a cure.

MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
my 5 month old was laying on her belly and her 6 yr old sister was ';helping'; me when she wasnt suppossed to she flipped her from her belly to back and her arm got caught
she wouldnt stop crying the arm was limp for 15 minutes I called her dr. he said to give her tylenol
that it is very hard to break a babies arm.
he said give her tylenol every 4 hours and tomorrow bring her in if she is still uncomfortable.
has this happend before to anybody.MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
It is hard but not impossible...If her arm is still limp, she cries without consolation when she moves it or it is touched, is red, very swollen or hot then I'd take her to the ER. Otherwise, chances are it can wait until tomorrow. My daughter had the same experience with her finger. She was just fine in the morning. Didn't even remember her finger was hurt until I brought it up. Good Luck!MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
Please take your baby to the emergency room, it could be very serious, don't let no one tell you about what to do for your baby, if you the baby needs medical attention then go to the er room. or called the paramedic, your child could be in great pain even with you giving her the Tylenol. so please go and take her to the er room.do this asap, you should even be thinking about spending another minute trying to figure out what to do. please take her asap. good luck and god bless you and your kids. i will be praying for you.
Take her to hospital NOW!
Babies are so fragile. If her arm is broken and you do nothing about it, you could be classed as an unfit mother. even if you have rang a doctor to ask about it. That does not matter. Take her to the hospital now.
Children can cope with things so so well, and you think they are doing fine, and then all of a sudden they will just go down... so quickly. Because that is how a child's body works. They work so hard to fight off pain, that they use all of there energy, that when they have no energy left, they just go down hill.
Please take her to hospital. It may be nothing, but it could be something.
If you really believe there's a chance her arm could be broken, take her to the ER anyway. Your doctor may be wrong. If you suspect it's worse than your doctor thinks, take her today. At the very least, it will put your mind at ease. Good luck!
babies bones are very soft and difficult to break....it is possible however.....just do as the Dr says and take her in tomorrow....if it is broken, the bones are soft and will mend quickly and usually without problems
For the most part i would trust my pedi. but if it seems like she still cant move her arm or fingers then it may be broken and need a cast of some sort. Give her a few hours then decide what you think you should do.
Don't worry i know as a mother it is your job to worry about your babies but if that's what the Dr. says to do then do it and if your still worried then take your baby to him/her.
actually babies bones are very fragile so if she is still not using her arm she needs an xray
I say take her in docs dont always kno best. if it was my child I wouldnt have even called the doc i would have went straight to the er.beauty

Hoping for some advice in feb i was put on 1 mg of xanax 3 times aday,i didnt like it so asked my dr if i?
could get off it but still needed something for anxiety.so he put me on 0.5 mg of klonopin 3 times a day and had me cut my xanx by 1 pill on may 8 he had me cut it back 1 more mg leaving me on 1 mg which i was suppose to have stoppeed but im afraid even though im on the klonopin im having withdrawals from the xanx..drs nurse called me today and said dr said to up my klonopin by 1 more pill so im on 0.5 mh klonopin and the 1 mg of xanx that i need to stop.I have had the worst one sided headache and blurry eyes today kinda emoitinal and week legs..........could i be in a withdrawal from the xanax...im having trouble concentrating and even teh klonopin doesnt seeem to be helping my anxiety which i have it BAD!!! You might can tell that........any words or anyone ever taper off xanax using klonopinHoping for some advice in feb i was put on 1 mg of xanax 3 times aday,i didnt like it so asked my dr if i?
According to Dr. Heather Ashton, both Xanax and Klonopin are equivalent to 20 mg. of Valium. So you were on the equivalent of 60 mg. of Valium with your 3 mg. of Xanax (20 * 3). Now you are on the equivalent of 30 mg. Valium (20 * 1.5). That is a drastic difference which no doubt accounts for your acute symptoms. Perhaps your doctor would be willing to increase your Klonopin dosage to compensate for the decreased amount of Xanax.
In the meantime check out Dr. Ashton's work which can be found at http://www.benzo.org.uk/manual/index.htm. For 12 years she ran a benzo withdrawal clinic at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. She demonstrated that it is possible to slowly taper off benzo's of all kinds. If you would be interested in embarking upon this journey, read up on her suggestions and discuss it with your doctor.

I have been on both xanax and konopin. The klonopin was much more edffective in the long term treatment. I did not go through witdrawals from the xanax. I was on 4mg of klonopin a day. Maybe you just need your dosage upped. Good luck
Your doctor was extremely irresponsible for putting you on xanax. Every doctor knows that that was used like 50 years ago and it has serious side effects including addiction and so on that could ruin your life like it ruined my grandpa's (he had anxiety too and took xanix back in the 50's).
This is serious. With the doctor's guidance you need to slowely ween yourself off of this med before it is too late. This is no joke. This is one of the worst meds he could have given you. It's known for its bad side effects and extreme addiction.
A medicine you may want to consider that I take for Generalized Anxiety Disorder is Pacsol. It is non-addicting and works well. Do some research. Your doctor obviously does not care if he just put you on xanax like that. Get off it slowely, however and under a doctor's guidance. But, get off it. You will thank me later. Pacsol is extremely good, but you also need therapy along with it.
Studies show anxiety is caused by an imbalance in seritoin levels in the brain. This slowely over a month or twos time reverses this. You keep on taking this for a long time with therapy. It works, if you have a good therapist. To begin with, your doctor should prescribe no more or less than 20 mg. He should wait before prescribing more. It shoudl never surpass 50 mg and be a while before you get decide if ever needed to be up there. See your doctor!

Okay so I went to the dr's today and my baby is measuring almost 2 or 3 weeks ahead of normal. Any advice?!
I have been arguing with the dr's and telling them that I'm not due in July that I'm due in June but according to them and the date of my LMP I'm due in July. My LMP wasn't right and even though they've been informed (more than once) they won't change. So anyways~I went and had a sonogram done today and according to the dr's I'm only 33wks 1day right now but my baby is measuring 35wks 5days which is RIGHT ON TIME according to my dates. She is already weighing 6lbs 1oz and her head itself is measuring 37wks. Come on~how in hell is that possible when my biggest baby was only 7lbs 6ozs and I don't have gestational diabetes or any other problem. What would anyone else do and what would you think as far as the baby and my due date?!?!?!?! HELP!!! :)Okay so I went to the dr's today and my baby is measuring almost 2 or 3 weeks ahead of normal. Any advice?!
It doesn't matter. The baby doesn't know when it's ';due'; and it will come when it is ready. If it doesn't, the doctor will still be monitoring you and the baby to make sure it isn't getting too big, and if you haven't gone into labor yet, they will induce you rather than let the baby get too big. Don't worry about the specific date at this point -- the baby will come when the baby is ready.Okay so I went to the dr's today and my baby is measuring almost 2 or 3 weeks ahead of normal. Any advice?!
I don't understand why you are so concerned. The baby is going to come when it's ready regardless of what you or the doctor's say.
If you are 33 weeks, you could go in the next 4-5 weeks or so. So you baby would be about 8 lbs. There's nothing unusual about that if you ask me.
Your due date could be wrong. It is always a guess when they give you the date, it sounds like you will deliver a few weeks earlier.
They don't really change your date when it's a couple of weeks off.
does it matter? you know what is right so just plan on having the baby when you know its due!
due dates can easily be off that much
I know exactly how you feel. I went to my first ultrasound back in January and they told me that I was due on June 6th. My doctor changed the date at first and was going by that date, then at my last appointment she randomly changed back to my original due date of June 18th - 12 longer than June 6th.
I went to a second ultrasound yesterday and they are telling me I'm 39 weeks as of today, but according to what my doctor is saying, I should be 37 weeks and 3 days.
This is my first child so I am worried about going too far over my due date. Everyone says that I'm not going to make it that far, but it still worries me. I don't have any good advice to give you. I can just say that I know exactly how you feel.
I have a doc's appointment today and I am going to have a little chat with her about this whole mess and see if we can't get something figured out. I know the baby is going to come when he's ready, but I'd like my dang doctor to quit changing her mind about the date and get things straight with the ultrasound results so we can have something acurate to go by.
I wish you the best of luck!!

I am 39 wks and 3 1/2 cm. dilated. My Dr. said I could have my waters broken tomorrow to induce labor. Advice?
My Dr. is scared that I will deliver at home because with my first child, I just went in to the Dr. and was 6 cm. Three hours later I was 10 cm (oh, and I didn't feel any contractions) then they broke my water and I delivered 40 min. later. With this pregnancy I was on bed rest from 26 wks to 36 wks because I was having so many contractions. I'm still having lots of contractions (6-15 min. apart), but they're not regular yet. So, should I go in and have my water broken and hope that labor ensues or should I wait to have it happen naturally. With this pregnancy, I feel my contractions much more than my last, so I was just planning to wait 'till they were 5 min. apart and regular, but now I'm wondering if I should just have it done. So, I welcome your thoughts. My fear is that I won't deliver in time and I'll have to have c-section or that it will be horribly painful when I could have just stayed at home and dilated for a few days.I am 39 wks and 3 1/2 cm. dilated. My Dr. said I could have my waters broken tomorrow to induce labor. Advice?
Well, you sound pretty in tune with your body, and you're obviously experienced and educated on the subject.... so I would say go with your instinct.
It sounds like you would 'like' to wait and see if you could go natural, so I say go for it! Breaking the waters will put you on the clock, and open the door for a lot of possible negative effects. It does increase your chance of a c-section, and infection, and although is usually safe, why not just wait and see if you can go on your own? You are 39 weeks, so you could have at least another week or two to go... and you're already dilating and feeling the symptoms of early labor. You're feeling the contractions this time too, so I would say call and cancel your intervention to have your waters broken, and wait and see if you can go on your own... you most likely will!!
Congratulations!I am 39 wks and 3 1/2 cm. dilated. My Dr. said I could have my waters broken tomorrow to induce labor. Advice?
Thats tough considering you barely made it to the doctor and you were 6 cm before. But then my mother went through the same thing. She was only in labor for a total of 3 hours with my older sister and thats with the 45 minute drive to the hospital. Then she had me, she was in labor with me for 17 hours. If the doctor is trying to give you a c-section if your in labor for ';too long'; and no other reason, you dont have to. You can say no. If I were you, given with your previous pregnancy and how quick it was, and the doctor is concerned about it (he knows more then we all do of course) and you trust his judgement, then I say go for him breaking your water. That way you are in the hospital already and dont ahve to worry about making it on time. Also if you do feel contractions this time, then there's really nothing you can do about the pain, you can either take the pain or take the epidural.
EDIT: Whoever said get the drip, I just want to tell you to try to avoid that at all costs. I got the pitocin drip and it made my labor stronger and harder. Just let him break your water first and if nothing is happening then ask for the drip.
I went through something very similar with my pregnancy with my son. If I were in your place I would let then go ahead and break my water. That said, it is your decision. I would definately go with the advice of my doctor. Second labors usually move along faster that the first so you definately don't want to be caught off guard~
I had 3 of my 6 kids in under 2 hrs. The 2nd was under 2 hrs and my 1st ironic was 24 hrs long. I still had time to get to the hospital which was 20 minutes away and never even came close to having one at home. I have alot of friends and only know 1 out of all of them who delivered her 7th child in the car . He is 18 today and just fine.
I guess its a personal choice.
I could have written your question. I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow and am dilated to 3 1/2 (';3 not quite 4';). My doctor offered to have me come in tomorrow to have the baby because I live 35 minutes away from the hospital and this is my third but I declined because something just doesn't feel right about choosing my baby's birthday. S/he will come when they want to so I'm just waiting. Do what you feel is right. Good luck!
at first I thought ';naahh she should go natural'; but then read the details. you are 39 weeks and you're done!! I say go for it.
congrats...
GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! at least you know exactly when you are gonna go into labour.
I would ask your doctor what they advise. I was induced at 38 1/2 weeks when I was 4 cms and 90 % effaced b/c the doctor was afraid that by the time I knew labor was beginning, I might not have enough time to get to the hospital %26amp; that sounds like it could be the case for you.
The induction was fine and was not extremely painful (I mean labor is always painful right!) and I am glad I went, b/c after the water broke, I had my daughter in 4 hours.
Given your previous pregnancy, if I were you, I would call the dr. and see about your options...you certainly don't want a home birth if you aren't prepared for one. best of luck!
If it doesn't come by tomorrow then I would go and have your waters broken. A long labour can be distressing for a baby and that causes another set of problems.
I had my water broken at 39 weeks in my last pregnancy..The DR. broke my water at 1:30 and our son was born at 3:30..Since you have had a previous birth and are already dilated,I would say go for it and welcome your baby into the world..Congrats
I would ask for the drip prior to him breaking the water.
You are close enough to your due date, that in my opinion having water broken to induce labor would be a good thing. Labor has already started since you are dialating. Its just a slow going labor. Yu dont know if it will speed up on its own until it may be too late. I would recomend having broken and speeding up the inevitable. I was induced with my daughter for medical reasons and it was a very fast labor. Only 8 hours compared to my firt one which was 36.

Help! Pilots, Dr's, Flight Attendants..I have developed a Fear of Flying and need to get over it. Any advice?
Hello all,
My story...
About a year ago I suffered a accident at work. I have had to have surgery and I am in constant pain and basically lost my career. For some reason, I have developed Panic Attacks. I generally can not predict when they will happen (I have been through alot) , I especially get worked up about Flying.
I recently had to fly to Nashville. I had to take 2 xanax and was utterly terrified the whole time. Unfortunatly, we flew over a major storm and the plane was leaping around in the air. It scared the veteran flyer I was with it was os rough. This added to my anxiety and it took more xanax to get me on the plane home.
I used to fly all the time. 2 yrs ago I flew the red eye from LAX to Georgia, then connected to Philly and back home 3 days later, no problem.
I have no idea where this anxiety came from, I just need to know how to help myself. I can't control it but being closed up in a plane is utterly terrifying me nowadays.Help! Pilots, Dr's, Flight Attendants..I have developed a Fear of Flying and need to get over it. Any advice?
Understanding is the best thing in my experience... :-)
I'm a pilot by trade and ALWAYS find people who are scared of flying!
To help them, I ask them what they're scared of...think about what it is. Is it the height? The unnatural sensations/sounds?
A fear of crashing? The fact you're not in active control/cant see who is?
Those are some common reasons...
I think a good way then to overcome it is facts and understanding what flying is all about, what makes it such a truly safe way to travel and what goes on!
Lets start with the pilots. People get an idea that getting a pilot's licence is like a driver's licence - do a bit of training, then you have your licence and you can fly anything. No way! The training is intensive, all encompassing and requires an enormous amount of accuracy, knowledge, ability and understanding just to get to licence standard...
Once the pilot gets that, it takes years of experience in flying to build up to a standard to fly an airliner - so you can be assured that they're experienced, capable and the best at that level. Not to mention the frequent testing and re-testing of all skills to make sure the pilot is razor sharp in what to do for ANY situation.
Now the plane. When a plane is designed and built, it takes years of work. Every last risk is looked at and ironed out - and when the plane's prototype is built, it's pushed beyond worldly forces to see how much it can take. It goes through strain of running engines at full power for days on end, pressure like being submerged, wings being flexed worse than the worst storm could (oh, and by the way - we never fly into storms! Big no-no). If anything at all gives before a set limit - back it goes. It does not pass until it matches everything!
Then in the factory and maintenance sheds, every last bolt, rivet and screw in the plane is written down - along with who put it in and when. Each last one! This makes sure it's plainly impossible that nothing is missed at all.
The height, I will admit, can be scary to new flyers. But think of this. You are strapped firmly into a seat that is firmly bolted onto the plane. You can't and won't fall! Plus on the movies when a door bursts out? Doesn't happen...know why? Because the doors are built so as air pressure literally holds them shut! It's impossible to burst one open.
There are unusual feelings and sounds. Jet engines sound a lot different to a car - much deeper, louder and less of a rhythmic sound as more of a roar. This roar is natural - because at the basic level, all a jet does is suck in air, compress it down and blast it out the tailpipe!
With even less moving parts than a car, a jet engine is much, much more reliable too. And even if one does fail, the plane is made to keep flying on just one engine - even planes that have 4 engines can stay up on one!
Crashes. Of course, crashes get a lot of publicity - usually because they're a big spectacle, and because there are often several hundred people involved.
But if you published every road death a day, you'd never have any other news!
Statistically speaking, I'm serious when I say you are more at risk driving to the airport than in the air. :-) Honestly!
There are thousands of flights a day and you can't even say there's one crash. Millions of people travel by air - and you're lucky to have a crash a month.
Plus, and I hate to sound rude, but the vast majority - over 80% - of these crashes happen in SE Asia and Africa where the airline safety standards are lacking.
Developed countries like Australia, UK, US are incredibly safe!
I hope I helped a bit - I really think that knowing the facts helps a lot :-) That's really only a start but let me know if I can help with understanding the flight part for a start!
I really do think that when people are armed with true information (not just rumours and what movies show) they are then understanding of their environment while flying - what is happening and how and why it is safe... :-)

FIRST, I DONT THINK YOU WOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF ANXIETY WHEN U GET IN A CAR AND DRIVE SOMEWHERE AS U WOULD WHEN U GET ON A PLANE. THERE IS A MUCH GREATER CHANCE OF U BEING IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT THEN U BEING IN A PLANE CRASH. U NEED TO USE WHAT WE CALL IN PSYCHOLOGY SYSTEMATIC DESENSITIZATION. ITS REPLACING ANXIETY WITH RELAXATION. TRY TO DO A STEP BY STEP PROCESS TO GET OVER YOUR FEAR. AND TRY NOT TO ABUSE THE XANAX
I'M A PSYCH MAJOR SO THATS THE BEST I CAN DO. GOOD LUCK :)

He's Dr. Jeckly & Mr. Hyde depending if his child is w/us for visitation. Help w/advice/insight please!?
My two sons and I have been living with my boyfriend for 18 mos. now. I love him dearly and am grateful for more or less supporting us three. I was with him for a grueling 12 month custody battle %26amp; in fact helped with his legal work. He got what he wanted with my help. The problem is that he's Dr. Jeckle when it's just he, myself and my boys but quickly becomes Mr. Hyde once his daughter is with us for visitation. Example: When it's the four of us, there's a routine and even tempered attitudes in the household. In other words, things are good for the most part. But as soon as his only child (a girl) is over with us, my guy's attitude changes and it becomes he and his daughter against my boys and me. It hurts for this is not healthy. I even read a book about step-parenting to help me understand this behavior. Example: He still expects my boys to follow rules and have consequences if necessary; but, his daughter can do NO wrong! Inconsistency %26amp; confusion. What am I to do? HelpHe's Dr. Jeckly %26amp; Mr. Hyde depending if his child is w/us for visitation. Help w/advice/insight please!?
Whoa! That's really a complex problem. I never thougt something like that would ever happen to a family. Anyway, why don't you seek a professional help for that one? A family counselor perhaps?beauty

Is the baby moving the arm fine ...is the baby crying when you move the arm if yes go to the emergency now...
try moving it once a while and check how the baby reacts...any injury to the bone(i pray there is none) ...will not allow to move a bit and baby will cry a lot...
but even if you do not go to doc now...make sure you do after coupld days just to make sure all is fine...MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
Is she visibly uncomfortable and upset? If so, take her in. If she is playing and seems to not be bothered, wait it out. In other words, let her behavior be the deciding factor. However, if your gut instinct tells you to take her in, then take her in. I always follow my gut instinct when it comes to my son (he's 20 months).
I am a first time mom, but I would bring her in for a look. She may have dislocated something. Maybe I am extra careful or ';neurotic';, but I would certainly look into it, especially if she seems in pain at all.
I want to slap your Dr!
If you don't see any improvement (no returned movement in the arm and your baby is still crying), I would go to the ER. I would have to just for a peace of mind.
Go with your instinct. If you think she needs to be seen, take her in. While he is a Dr, you are her mother and it is up to you to do what is right for your baby.
If you think you should go to the ER just go. I know I would with my kids just so I know everything is ok. Just do what you think is right. You are the mother and mother knows best.
Id get off the comp and go to the ER thats what a responsible parent would do, even if its ok, its better to know and be safe.
put it this way. It won't hurt anything to take her to the er for a check, but it could hurt her or cause more problems for her if there is something wrong and you wait. GO!
I would take her to the ER it may not be a break but is is very easy to dislocate an infants arm which would be limp and not cause a constant pain but pain when moved or touched. Good Luck.
I can't believe your doctor would even say that? I would take her to the er anyway and have her looked at, and then I would find a new doctor.
There are so many sinews, ligaments, tendons and muscles in the shoulder, that I would have taken her straight away.
Their arms don't break easily but they do dislocate their elbows or shoulders. I'd go to the ER.

I am pregnant and have a 7cm. mass on my liver. The Dr. suggested an MRI. I am worried... Any advice?
I am 6 weeks pregnant. The mass is vascular. Will it hurt the baby? I am afraid it might be cancer:(I am pregnant and have a 7cm. mass on my liver. The Dr. suggested an MRI. I am worried... Any advice?
There are instances where having an MRI in pregnancy is necessary. This is one of them. Discuss this with our doctor. In this case, the benefits outweigh the risks. Do not delay. A mass does not necessarily mean cancer.I am pregnant and have a 7cm. mass on my liver. The Dr. suggested an MRI. I am worried... Any advice?

What would you do? Please don't be rude I know none of you are dr.'s I'm not asking for medical advice!!!?
The only thing is I know my cervix was only 75% effaced and I wasn't dilated but a figertip friday. Also all of the contractions are in my back with a menstrual type cramp in the front but doesn't feel like the contractions I had with my first child that were all in my stomach. I know from going with my cousin to l%26amp;d when she was pregnant that their monitors don't pick up back labor... soooo Question is if you were in my position what would you do wait it out or go in? I don't want to go in and them send me home and end up having to go back in a day or two later because of feeling the same way and this doesn't feel like its going to let up.What would you do? Please don't be rude I know none of you are dr.'s I'm not asking for medical advice!!!?
if i were you i would go in and get checked. i am prego with my 5th baby and ALL my other ones i had back labor with. my first one i was 16 and i woke up at 530am with back pains laid on a heating pad it didn't help had to pee (or i thought) i made it to the bathroom and thought i pissed myself only to later find out my water broke, pain was still bad so i laid back down and tried to go to sleep ended up finally calling my sister and telling her i needed to go to the hospital, got there at 730am and was dilated to an 8. then a few hours later she was born. if your not sure and your in alot of pain GO and get checked if anything to make sure it is not nothing serious if your not in labor. What would you do? Please don't be rude I know none of you are dr.'s I'm not asking for medical advice!!!?
Go ahead and get checked in Labor and Delivery.
if i was in your shoes i would go in to the hospital straight away and tell them something doesn't feel right, its your right to be checked over!!
You should go ahead and go in hun I fully would listen to the answerer who is a labor and delivery RN
doctorrss!!
You should go in and have L%26amp;D check you out and see what is going on with you two.
i would go in if you're having that much pain
I am not a doctor but have been in labor 5 times. Unfortunately I never experienced back labor. But I do know that with every contraction you dilate more. They say with active contractions you should dilate 1cm every hour, but I think that is for those whose contractions are like 5 minutes apart. If you go to the L%26amp;D they can check to see how far dilated you are at least even if the monitor doesn't pick up the contractions.
I would do what the doc says, to call when they are 7 minutes apart.....unless you are just in so much pain that you can't take it....
Even if you go to L%26amp;D, don't worry about it, they are use to people doing that - and heck that's what they are there for......who cares if they send you home - atleast you'll feel better about the whole thing....
Congrats and G'luck=D
I think you should go in..you know your body better than anyone. And its better to be safe and go get check out even if they tell you to come back. It sounds like you have been in early labor for a while today so maybe by time you make it you will be a little farther...try walking to see if that gets them going more also.
if i were you i would go in and get checked. i am prego with my 5th baby and ALL my other ones i had back labor with. my first one i was 16 and i woke up at 530am with back pains laid on a heating pad it didn't help had to pee (or i thought) i made it to the bathroom and thought i pissed myself only to later find out my water broke, pain was still bad so i laid back down and tried to go to sleep ended up finally calling my sister and telling her i needed to go to the hospital, got there at 730am and was dilated to an 8. then a few hours later she was born. if your not sure and your in alot of pain GO and get checked if anything to make sure it is not nothing serious if your not in labor.

Dr says possible miscarriage...I just dont know what to think. Advice please.?
I went to the hospital today and said i fell down the stairs(i didnt), I just wanted an ultrasound, because i was 12 weeks and had no prenatal care. I have felt fine. No bleeding, No cramping. And ive had all the pregnancy symptoms. I had 3 positive pregnancy test back when i was 4 weeks pregnant one of those positives was at the drs. Now i got an ultrasound today, a vaginal ultrasound, and blood work. my hormone level was 700 and my baby had no heartbeat but was the size of an embryo that was just concieved. my gestational sac measured 5cm. im so friggin confused. they told me to come back in two days so they can test my blood again and see if my hormone level has risen or dropped. Im so confused, i was suppose to be 12 weeks pregnant, but if it stopped growing that long ago, why havent i miscarried and why have i continued to have symptoms and why is my hormone level 700? I just dont get it. Im so confused. Im hurting so bad, i just need advice. What do you think? i just dont know.Dr says possible miscarriage...I just dont know what to think. Advice please.?
I'm so sorry you are going through this. I miscarried at 13 weeks. I went to the doctor at 4 weeks, which is when I found out. They made another appointment a 12 weeks. When I went in, the doctor could not find a heartbeat and the ultrasound didn't show one either. It is just something that happens. I felt pregnant and all, and still did for a week or so after I finally miscarried. It was hard to understand why it happens, and people will tell you all kinds of things that they think are ';helpful'; to make you feel better. Truth is, time is the only thing that will help. Just rest and take care of yourself. Best wishes.Dr says possible miscarriage...I just dont know what to think. Advice please.?
it takes a while for the hcg level to go back to normal and even though your baby stopped growing itll miscarry when the body tells it to or when the levels take a significant drop. With my first miscarriage the baby died at 6 weeks and i didnt pass it until the 10 week so it happens. My levels at 5 weeks were at 9009 and at 6 weeks 56000 so you prob started miscarrying a while ago GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS
the baby could be younger then what you think. i had the same problem i thought i was about 12wks because of missed periods and spotting. come to find out i was only 4wks (no baby just saw a sac) i thought for sure i misscarried. they did another ultrasound two wks later and found baby, sac, yolk sac, and heartbeat. im now 38wks and baby is doing great. i hope that your going thru the same thing and baby is just younger
Sometimes the body does not register a miscarriage, and does not expel the embryo/fetus naturally. This is called a missed miscarriage. You will need to have a D%26amp;C in order to remove the tissue. If you are 12 weeks there should have been a visible fetus with arms and legs even. My guess is you did miscarry.
A level of 700 is way too low for 12 weeks. My levels were 1300 at 4 weeks 6 days, 2570 at 5 weeks 1 day, and by 6 weeks my level was 24,000. They can vary , but not that much. It looks like your pregnancy stopped progressing a few weeks ago and your levels are now dropping. I'm sorry. They will monitor you and if you dont pass everything, they will do a D%26amp;C.
I'm so sorry. Trust your doctors on this one. It happens unfortunately. And your hormone level is suppose to at least double ever 24 hours, so 700 is incredibly low. Again, so sorry.
it can take a while to miscarry on your own. just go back and see what they say / they will probably schedule a d%26amp;c since you havent miscarried yet
i think u have had a missed miscarriage
You need to see your regular doctor to have a follow up exam. They can monitor the situation. Unfortunately this happens quite often. I've been through it myself. It doesn't ease the pain of losing a child but having the proper care can help find out why this happened. Also if you had a positive pregnancy test at the doctors office-why was there no follow up care or ultrasound? Usually be twelve weeks you would've had more exams done and bloodwork completed which can help answer some of your questions.
If you are trying to conceive please consider getting prenatal care before you get pregnant. You need to have bloodwork and tests done to ensure a healthy baby.
You just wanted an ultrasound because something didn't feel right, or because you just *felt* like it? Either way, you really shouldn't have lied. 1) the dr's are going to know that IF the baby did in fact stop growing, that it didn't happen as a result of falling down the stairs. Obviously the growth is weeks behind. 2) It's just wrong. Why haven't you had prenatal care? This is very important, especially in your first trimester.
Anyhow, it sounds like the baby simply stopped growing. OR, maybe you miscarried the last pregnancy, but got pregnant again soon after and perhaps you conceived later than you think? I know it's a long shot but it's possible.
Please, next time you get pregnant or for this pregnancy if it's still ok, PLEASE get prenatal care, and be seen as a high-risk pregnancy since you now have a potential history of miscarriage.
I hope it works out for you and your baby. If not, don't lose hope, try again.
you could be pregnant but since your still with in the three month mark or 90 days whatever then your body can be trying to fix something that is wrong with the baby a miscarriage is a bodys way of getting rid of any harmful or defelcted material
so falling down the stairs probably didnt hurt you or the baby
their just may be something wrong that is not easily seen and your body knows it but you cant tell yet
and when they are that little in order to hear the heart best you have to be right on top of them basicly
I'm so sorry. I know what you're going through. About a year and a half ago I got pregnant, I went for my 12 week ultrasound and the doctor said there was no heartbeat. I saw my baby on the screen, nothing moving, no sound of a heartbeat. He said it looked to be around SIX weeks. I was really confused too, I thought ';why is it still there?! why do I still have symptoms?!';. The only symptom that seemed to go away overnight was the nausea, and that was around 6 weeks. But I had NO clue because I had quite a few other symptoms of being pregnant. I was very fatigued, my boobs kept growing, I was moody... but I guess it was just the hormones. That day they checked my hormone levels, told me to come back a day or 2 after (can't remember, I've tried to forget that time)... and wouldn't you know it! The very next day after that appt I started cramping and I had a miscarriage later on that day. It takes a while for your hormone levels to get back to normal, my guess is that's why you still have your symptoms. I'm very sorry, but just know that you're not alone.
If in fact you are having a miscarriage, and it sounds like you are...it's called a missed miscarriage. This occurs when the fetus dies but the woman's body continues as if the pregnancy was still viable (living). This diagnosis is usually made after fetal heart tones aren't heard or the size of the uterus hasn't grown. An ultrasound will show that the fetus stopped growing several weeks prior and there will be no fetal heart tones. There are no signs/symptoms initially. You will feel as if the pregnancy is going fine. You may or may not experience bleeding, and with a missed miscarriage most don't experience lower abdominal or pelvic pain. There are several causes of a missed miscarriage and it depends on when during the pregnancy the miscarriage occurs. Most occur within the first 12 weeks the cause is most due to chromosomal abnormalities within the fetus. Now I'll tell you my story....
I found out I was pregnant when I was about 6 weeks. I had 3 positives at home, and 1 at the doctor. However, my doc wouldn't see me until I was at least 13 weeks along because the rates of miscarriages are so high within the first 12 weeks ( I switched doctors because of this for my currrent pregnancy). The only symptoms I had were severe breast tenderness and heartburn. I was supposedly 13 weeks when I started cramping one night. When I went to the bathroom, I noticed about a half dollar size amount of bright red blood. I called my doc, and she said it was probably due to having intercourse within the last 24 hours, and being on my feet too much. She ordered bed rest for the rest of the week. I had my appointment scheduled with her at 14 weeks. I called the doctors office the next day to let her know the bleeding had stopped as well as the cramping. However, I requested that I come in and get a fetal heartbeat, because I couldn't go a week wondering. She immediately worked me in. Needless to say, she couldn't find a heartbeat, so I was sent for an emergency ultrasound. The ultrasound tech would tell me nothing. I already knew.... I got a call an hour later from my doc stating that the baby had quit developing @ 7 weeks, and that if I didn't ';dispose'; of the fetus on my own, she would have to perform a D %26amp; C. This was on a Thursday. On Friday, I still had no signs/symptoms of a miscarriage. I called and scheduled the D %26amp; C for the following Tuesday. On Saturday I woke up with extreme back pain lasting for about 2-3 hours, and I also started to spot VERY LIGHTLY. On Sunday evening, I started having severe cramps that eventually led to full blown contractions. I ';labored'; for about 3 hours, until I fell asleep. I woke up and felt a gush of water, and when I went to the bathroom, I ';disposed'; of the fetus. I did not have a follow up appointment and the D %26amp; C was cancelled. So I told you all of that to let you know that it does happen, and it is very hard to go through. Also if you do end up passing it on your own, it's very painful. Please ask your doctor for pain meds. I wasn't able to because it was Sunday night and all pharmacies were closed. I really hope that you handle this well. Just know that even though it's hard, it will get better. Don't be afraid to try again, because I did, and 3 months later I ended up pregnant again, and I am 2 days overdue now. I will pray for you!

ADVICE?..MY BF IS MAD THAT I WONT GO TO DR....YET?
Okay! I need some advice! From mothers or TTC ladies!!
can you lend your past experiences?
LMP- February 14th.
Had Sex on February 19th, 26th.(unprotected)
February 27th: I had horrible cramps all day
March 1St : woke up with VERY sore breast breast...nipples beyond sensitive. I couldn’t wear anything.
March 2: I had slight cramps. Boobs not as sore. And diarrhea. Also, had unprotected sex. After sex...i had a little brownish color in my thong
March 3: around noon became extremely tired. And wanted to sleep. When I got off work @ 5 I had some more brownish/pinkish in my thong( nickel size both times) I went to bed at 7 and didn’t wake until 6 for work this morning.
March 4:: so far no “spotting” today. But lost of watery discharge. Still very tired. And just wanna sleep. as of now i really cant concentrate. my head is just blah..and i CANT stop yawning......
Today: I couldn’t sleep last night. My boobs kept getting in the way. They feel and look huge. I cant really tell they are a little dark..they seem like it thouu.
i also since last night...feel a little cramping on my left side...close to where my hip is???.... whats that? not felt that beforeADVICE?..MY BF IS MAD THAT I WONT GO TO DR....YET?
It's much too early for you to be experiecing pregnancy symptoms. You have to wait until you miss a period, and then take a test. A doctor wouldn't even want to see you at this point.ADVICE?..MY BF IS MAD THAT I WONT GO TO DR....YET?
either take a home pregnancy test-you were ovulating around the times you had sex-then you should call your dr immediately! Tired, and sore boobs and spotting could be a sign of pregnancy-the spotting is when it implants to your wall. I have had 2 babies-and spotted with my 1st-but that was the implantation.
You need to go to the doctor and get a pregnancy test done cause chances are you are pregnant.
Sounds more like mother nature.
Go see the doctor.
See your Dr.
JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR
You asked the question twice.....
uhm...you should go to the doctor...
since we don't know your age its hard to tell, but to me it sounds like you just got your first period.
but if you've had unprotected sex and feel that pregnancy is a possibility then go buy a home pregnancy test and follow instructions.
Then if neg and still have symptoms for more than 7 days go see a doctor. also if pos you need to see a doctor.
This could be many things...
This could be side affects from your birth control pills (I'm hoping that ';unprotected'; sex just meant that he didn't have a condom) - if you are not using anything: What the hell are you thinking? Not only are you risking a pregnancy - but STDS and HPV (a contributing factor of a form of cervical cancer). If you can't afford contraception on your own - talk to Planned Parenthood, they can help you!
Back on to your spotting....you could be having a miscarriage, you could have fibroids, it could just be how your period is choosing to present itself this month, it could be an STD, or it could be a pregnancy. It could be many things - but it certainly sounds like something. This could be a smart time to talk to a doctor, if for nothing else but peace of mind....as you said, you are 20 years old - not a little kid - so lets start making some adult decisions....and when you get through this, get yourself protected! Unprotected sex is like playing Russian Roulet - are you aware that there has been a huge increase of STDS in people your age? Gonnorhea is everywhere that you want to be!
I understand that your boyfriend wants you to go to the doctor but at the same time if you are concerned that you are pregnant you have to wait until your next period is due. I do not know if your cycles are regular but if they are please wait until the day that your period is due or a couple days before and take a pregnancy test at home. Then you will know what you will need to do at that point (after you get the result). It is possible to experience symptoms that quick as I experienced the same thing but I had no idea I could be pregnant. When I found out I was pregnant I thought hmmm that explains certain things that were going on within my body. The brownish/pinkish discharge you are having coul possibly be implantation bleeding and the cramps could be implantation cramps. I hope this helps!

Even my DR. is ';on the fence'; about my pregnancy/miscarriage...Any advice out there?
I have been bleeding heavily for about 5 days now and it has finally started lightening up, like it's going away. I have had all symptoms of a miscarriage, cramping, clots, bleeding. My hcg level however is still at 350 (has still been increasing...but when i had an ultrasound had no sign of baby. I should be at 5-6 weeks). When this bleeding finally stops how soon after will I be ovulating again (I am on a 28 day cycle)? Will I have to wait for my hcg level to go down? Also, with all these symptoms of miscarriage why does my hcg continue to rise? it went from 199, 218, 280, 350 (that was yesterday). Dr says my tubes look normal and there is no sign of an ectopic pregnancy. He actually even said that he is never on the fence and he is with my situation, meaning if there is a slight chance I am still pregnant or definately miscarrying. Has anyone dealt with this?? Thanks to all who answer:)Even my DR. is ';on the fence'; about my pregnancy/miscarriage...Any advice out there?
if these hcg results are 48hrs apart the miscarriage is inevitable if they are 24hrs u may still have a chance but at 5 weeks your hcg should be no less than 960. you will ovulate 2-4 wks after m/c cause sometimes it will delay the next af sorry and good luck too uEven my DR. is ';on the fence'; about my pregnancy/miscarriage...Any advice out there?
A friend of mine had the same symptoms you are describing - heavy bleeding, cramping, clots, etc.
Her son was born prematurely five months later.
Give yourself a few weeks and do a retest and see what's going on. You may be pregnant - you may not be. It's hard to tell right now. As challenging as it will be you need to be patient.
I have no dealt with it, but I do know from experience that your hcg level doubles every 2 days. Some people do bleed through out there pregnancy also. I hope that it helps a little
you will have to wait a week from the time you last tested your hcg...and test again and again until you test comes back negatiev for pregnantcy.
some people do bleed throughout their entire pregnancy and as far as the ultrasound i had one today (im 6 weeks) and it was hard to find the baby but we did hear the heart beat
Your hcg levels will continue to slowly rise, sometimes for weeks, until your body recognizes that the embryo didn't survive. There are still cells in your uterus that are growing (there may even be a gestational sac), and that is what is causing your hcg levels to rise. Once your body realizes that the embryo hasn't survived, you will begin to bleed and the actual miscarriage will happen. Usually around this time, that is when your hcg levels will start to drop. It can take a month or so for your levels to drop completely. you are likely to ovulate about 2-3 weeks after the bleeding begins. Your hcg level does NOT have to be at 0 for you to ovulate. The period of time after a miscarriage is a very fertile time so definitely keep trying and doni't give up.
I would like to offer you some hope but I don't want to mislead you. With hcg levels like yours, the chances of a successful pregnancy are slim to none. I just went through the same thing this month so I know what you are going through. My first beta was only 88 at 16 days post ovulation. The next one was 151, then a week later it was only 450, then 5 days later it was only 1000. My bleeding started right after it hit 1000. I knew right away it was doomed because those levels are just really terrible. That didn't make it any easier though. I am still really upset about it. I am sorry for what you are going through and that I can't give you any hope.
I also wanted to say that I have had 5 ectopics as well, and none of them were ever seen in my tubes on the ultrasound. They were just kind of hiding in there somewhere. I just don't want you to think there is no chance of that. Keep it in the back of your mind and if you have any shoulder blade pain or intense pain in your pelvis, call your doc or go to the ER immediately.
regarding what i think is your main question, it can take awhile to start ovulating again or no time at all. My friend ovulated 5 days after hers and I was 6+ months. I really don't know how far the HCG has to go back down though (I would assume to full normal). You may still be preggers witht the levels continuing to go up though and have a weird period. Some women do go through that with pregnancy. With my ectopic pregnancy, there was no sign of anything and it all looked healthy down there. Regarding that, I would get a second opinion.
wow sorry to hear that, I just know that when I found out I was pregnant I was 4 weeks and my vaginal ultrasound only showed the little sack where the baby grows, a dark spot (the placenta) so I didnt see a baby in there til I was 7 weeks pregnant.. I know its hard, but dont stress and wait a week or two and get another ultrasound, as long as your levels rise then you are still pregnant. your situation also alarms me about doctors out there who dont have enough experience to decide on whats really going on with a patient like you, i always make sure my ob gyn is board certified and has at least 10 years experience I bet my dr. knows of a case like yours with an answer...good luck, have faith, and take care.
I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks and my hcg levels never went up,they just continued to go down , with my second pregnancy at 5 weeks i started bleeding heavily , i went to the hospital ,the er docs told me i was having another miscarraige and to go home and wait it out , my levels were very low , i bled for a week or so , the doctors office kept drawing my blood every other day for about one week and found that my levels were going back up , eventually the bleeding stopped and i ended up having a beautifull healthy baby girl 8 months later! maybe that is whats happening with you? I do to this day think that i may have lost my daughters twin and that would explain the low levels and bleeding , and you are very early so its not wierd at all that they didnt see a baby , all they would see is a sac and if they didnt see the sac maybe its in a sopt that is hard to pick up with ultrasound? its a great sign that your levels are going back up ! good luck with everything.cosmetics
if these hcg results are 48hrs apart the miscarriage is inevitable if they are 24hrs u may still have a chance but at 5 weeks your hcg should be no less than 960. you will ovulate 2-4 wks after m/c cause sometimes it will delay the next af sorry and good luck too uEven my DR. is ';on the fence'; about my pregnancy/miscarriage...Any advice out there?

My son is 3years old.His hearing was checked by a Dr. He understands 2 languages but not able to talk.advice?
I agree with other answerers.
It is common for children who learn two languages as native speakers to take up to 4 years old to speak. When he does he will have an enormous advantage of speaking two languages almost perfectly. Any future employer will consider this an advantage.
Also, some children speak a little bit at first. some wait for the moment when they are confident and speak in sentences very soon after that.My son is 3years old.His hearing was checked by a Dr. He understands 2 languages but not able to talk.advice?
this also happened to a friend of mines son who is 3 and a bit she was told by a doctor that children who are bilingual are late talkers so do not worry.as long as he understands .My son is 3years old.His hearing was checked by a Dr. He understands 2 languages but not able to talk.advice?
I know how you feel. But there is nothing to worry about.
Learning a language is a long process for a child.
Learning 2 of them requires even more energy!!
It is wonderfull that your child underdstands 2 languages and the fact he doesn't have hearing problem is a good sign.
Children learn languages at different pace..and it is not fair to compare them to each other.
Your child's brain is developping at the different pace, because it is learning to use 2 languages..that requires twice as much memory than mono-lingual child. It requires knowing different sounds, pronounciations.
He will eventually speak two languages and will be able to learn and catch up with other kids really fast.
He is probably waiting until he is sure he can speak correctly. I have heard stories of very intelligent children who didn't speak until they were 3 or 4 years old and the first thing they spoke was a complete sentence, because they wanted to make sure that they were speaking correctly. They didn't want to talk baby talk. Especially since your son has been exposed to two languages, he is probably just sorting it all out in his head and waiting to make a grand statement!
wait for another 6 months and dont panic just now....
Perhaps he's a passive learner and just isn't ready to talk yet. I don't see any reason to worry yet. When he does talk he'll probably be very good at it.
You could consult a speech pathologist for reassurance if you feel this would ease your mind.
is he trying to and just making sounds or no sound at all? either way you could make an appt with an Occupational Therapist at the nearest children's hospital....our second child, also a boy, has had speech problems and the OT really helps.
my son began to speak when he was pronounce words corect. he was 4 years old but he was speaking like a adult not like a baby.

I have a appt w/ a pain manangement dr for the 1st time and am seeking advice?
I have chronic back pain from a surfing accident like 5 years ago. I did not have insurance at the time of the accident and never went to the dr. I was bed ridden for about 2 weeks and then it kind of got better. recently my back has been killing me. Since the accident I have been taking otc pain relievers and they were kind of working but recently are not doing a thing, which is why I have finally made the appt. That and I finally have insurance.
My question is - Does anyone know how this works? I am going to talk to the dr about a mri but with out one do pain mngmt dr's prescribe meds for pain to hold you over til they can look at your mri or am I gonna have to wait?
My friend has been giving me percocet 10/325 which I have been taking just periodically and it is doing wonders for the pain. Is it out of line to ask for a script? I don't want the dr to think I am seeking drugs but my back is killing me and I would feel alot better about taking meds that were prescribed for me. Not my friends.I have a appt w/ a pain manangement dr for the 1st time and am seeking advice?
The second responder has given you a good overview of a pain clinic visit.
I would highly recommend that you not discuss taking controlled medications illegally (which is what you did by taking your friend's Percocet). That is a felony, called diversion of controlled substances and is against many DEA regulations.
You should discuss the fact that you had been able to manage with OTC medications, but the pain is no longer manageable.
It is likely they will order diagnostic test, including the MRI or a CT depending on your exam and history. They will probably also order an analgesic medication.
It is likely they will not start with a drug as strong as Percocet 10/325. More likely, until they have some confirmation of a medical condition they will give you a one month supply of a hydrocodone medication. A likely choice would be Norco 5/325 or Norco 10/325.
Few pain physicians provide stronger medications to new patients who are not referred from another physician with the test results already in the chart. The medications they provide should manage your pain until the test results provide information on how to best control your symptoms.I have a appt w/ a pain manangement dr for the 1st time and am seeking advice?
Asking the Dr. for something to take is fine, especially since you feel the pain is debilitating. I'm honestly not sure if pain mgmt dr's prescribe without an MRI, as I've never been to one. However, I don't see why they wouldn't. Asking for a *specific* medication may cause some hesitation there, but I don't see why they wouldn't give you something, since OTC's aren't working.
Agree with last two. Don't ask for narcotics that is a red flag for sure and may not be the best course for you anyway. A rx NSAID may work even better since OTC ones were working. Also things like PT/exercises may also help and be ordered. Usually If you need narcotics you will have then prescribed
At the first appointment they will ask you to fill out some paperwork that asks for insurance information, your other information such as address, phone number, primary care physician if you have one, your pharmacy, your medical history including drug allergies. They will ask on there if the accident was related to on the job as well.
Also, in the paperwork they will include a contract for you to read explaining the policies of the practice and what will happen if your medicine (depending on what medicines they give you) should ever get stolen.
Then after that if the practice is set up this way (many are but not all I say this because of the fact that some Pain Management doctors are about giving injections for pain control than giving oral meds) they will take your weight and blood pressure. The reason is because some meds are affected by the weight and blood pressure such as maybe making a blood pressure too high or too low.
After that is done you will then be taken to the room and they may ask you to take your shirt off and put on a gown (sometimes this is done to make it easier for the doctor to do an exam). Then you will wait for the doctor.
When the doctor comes in they may introduce themselves and then start with asking about the problem so that they can get an idea of the problem. If you have brought x-rays with you to this appointment they may look at them and go over them with you (some doctors will require this to get a better idea of what's going on and so as not to repeat certain tests in some cases).
After the bit of talking about the history of the injury they will do an exam by checking to see which areas of your back hurt more than others if certain areas hurt more. After the exam they may start to order tests like an MRI to see what is going on.
They may ask what meds you have tried but I wouldn't recommend mentioning getting the medicine from your friend because it will cause a red flag to go up. Just mention other medicines you may have tried and then let them know that they didn't work. Also, when describing your pain in addition to the using the scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the worst pain you have ever had) use words like sharp, dull, burning, etc to describe some of what you feel with this pain. This will help the doctor get more information to help them figure out what kind of a treatment plan to come up with to help you with your pain.
If you have other questions for me please feel free to e-mail me off site any time.

I have joint custody of my 3 kids. My daughter's Dr. called said my ex is not following their advice.?
My daughter sees a specialist and I called the doctor to see how she did at her visit that same day she went with her mom. They called back and said me ex is not following their recommendations and is causing health problems for her. My daughter said the only time she does her prescribed exercises is with me and also eats the right food with me as well. She told the doctor this and the doctor wants to write a letter to the court recommended she spend more time with me. I would rather work it out peacefully with my ex but she refuses to communicate so I believe I have no other alternative. Any other suggestions?I have joint custody of my 3 kids. My daughter's Dr. called said my ex is not following their advice.?
use a common friend to get to your ex-wife. i think it's very noble of you to try to work things out among yourselves. if your ex-wife still refuse to accept the fact that you're actually doing her a favor by resorting to peacefull means, then you have no choice but to do whatever would be necessary for the sake of your child. you need not feel guilty then if the court decides in your favor because you have tried your best to warn her.I have joint custody of my 3 kids. My daughter's Dr. called said my ex is not following their advice.?
You've got to do what you have to do for the interest of your child. Personally, If I were you, I would be trying to get custody of my child, not just extra visitation. If her mother isn't doing what she's supposed to be doing and it negatively impacts your child's health, she's a neglectful parent and doesn't deserve to have custody. If that makes her mad, so what? As long as your daughters needs are being met, her mothers anger doesn't matter in the least.
If your ex will not talk to you or listen to the Doc....then I guess you are forced to do what ever it takes for your daughter....guess that's why they are your ex huh *S*
Your doctor is generally correct. Custody laws vary from state to state, but generally if you share custody, both parents have the right to make decisions about your daughter's health and welfare. Perhaps you should write a letter to your ex explaining your concern and asking for resolution. If that fails, you can petitioner the court to order your ex to follow the doctors advice or, in a more extreme case, for a change of custody. This answer is very general and if you decide to go the court route, you should seek advice from a competent attorney in your area.
It doesnt matter what you want but your daughters health is more important. Take your ex back to court on charges of child endangerment and petition the courts for a child custody remodification hearing to see if you can gain full custody of her from her mom. This is serious stuff and since the dr is willing to help you,go for it immediately and dont worry about what your ex thinks either.

My husband is suspicious of our ob dr. What do you think? Please give us advice?
My daughter is in the 4th percentile and dr wants to deliver at 35 weeks because she is growing very slowly in utero. (IUGR) They are making us go to 2 ultrasound appts a week starting at 26 weeks until birth (35 weeks) I am currently 31 weeks. Well, on monday they measured the baby and said she weighed 2 lbs 9 oz and was EXACTLY in the 4th percentile as she has been since 26 weeks. Not a variance at all which I find really strange. I went to a different ultrasound place for one appt and they said the baby looked fine and would just be a little small but they didnt think it merited taking her at 35 weeks. So anyway, the last measurement at the usual place was 2 lbs 9 oz just monday. Yesterday I felt alot of cramps and my dr urged me to go to labor floor to be checked and I had an ultrasound done there. They said the baby was in the 24th percentile and weighed 3 lbs 3 oz!!! Thats a difference of 10oz in 3 days. I realize that those measurements vary but why doesnt it vary at other placeMy husband is suspicious of our ob dr. What do you think? Please give us advice?
I don't think it is EVER good to take the baby out early unless the baby is in distress (breathing/heart beat) although I'm not a doctor... this is not something to mess around with... you need to get a second and/or third opinion right away... even if you have to pay out of pocket for another dr's visit... its worth it.
Don't delay, find another OB right now and schedule an emergency appt.My husband is suspicious of our ob dr. What do you think? Please give us advice?
Usually your instincts are right. There's nothing wrong with a second opinion. I'd talk to friends and visit a doctor that a friend recommends. Don't always assume that a doctor is right, get another opinion to clam your fears.
Call medicaid %26amp; find out what OBGYN's are covered in your area. You should definetely get a second (maybe even third) opinion. I'm not a doctor, but I'd say as long as the baby isn't in distress, hold out until you go into labor.
Your job fired you because your doctor took you out of work due to complications in the pregnancy?? That's so wrong... I have a very strong feeling that's even illegal. I know you have a lot of other things on your plate right now, but you should really get in touch with a lawyer about that.
Good Luck.
The later you get in the pregnancy, the less accurate those things are. And it's totally possible she grew that much. I would say its better to keep the baby inside you as long as possible for her own health, she's grow better and be healthier inside you compared to being in an incubator at the hospital after she is born.
I don't see why small size would merit early birth. Seems they would want you to go at to your due date, maybe even overdue. 35 weeks isn't even full-term, which could carry risks anyway...but because she's small? Seems like something is off there to me. Is there any chance you could go see another OB and see what they have to say?

Just saw the additional details. Find a different doctor on your own. If you didn't trust the first doctor, could you even trust the dr he referred you to? I wouldn't. Go with someone else. If they're any good, they should be able to look at your fundal height and tell if the baby's too small - my dr did and ordered an ultrasound, which showed that the baby weighed 6lbs2oz (which was his birth weight!) and he didn't require any ultrasounds after that, or schedule an induction - I went into labor a couple of weeks later, on my own...on my due date, even! If you want to mention what happened with the last doctor, go ahead, but your new one will probably be able to tell if it'll be a problem based first on fundal height, then ultrasound if it's questionable.
I think it'd be best for you to let the baby come when she's ready. She needs time to complete the 'finishing touches' on her development, including her lungs. If there were something wrong, chances are you'd go into labor early on your own anyway - why be induced early? It just doesn't seem right.
darling it does sound odd, my advice change obs as soon as you can, maybe even change hospitals. really this is the best for your baby!!!!
Get a second opinion from another OB. Or better yet, go to see a Neonatologist....they specialize in high risk pregnancies and conditions like you are describing. I was sent to one during the middle of my pregnancy when some issues came up. They will use a Level 2 ultrasound machine which is much more exact than a normal ultrasound.
Regarding your insurance and job issue, it sounds like you should be thinking about suing your employer. If you were instructed by your doctor to go to these medical appointments, your employer cannot fire you. Also as long as you were not fired for gross misconduct, you are eligible to retain your health insurance benefits through COBRA (this was an Act passed by Congress to protect dislocated employees from losing health insurance benefits).
If the slow growth is to do with malnutrition while the baby is in the womb, then yes, it would be better to deliver the baby earlier so it can go on a proper diet.
Ask your doctor to specify why he is planning to do what he is. You are not cattle after all. However, changing doctors could be very distressing and stressful, and I do not recommend it.
...(edit)
They can fire you for that in the US? Really? Ok, well just do what you can and be happy when it is overwith- I do not think it hurts to deliver at 35 instead of 37 (though it is early).
Unless the baby is in distress, I don't see the point of them taking the baby that soon. You'd think if she was small, they'd want the baby in there LONGER to grow some more. But as someone said above me, I'm no doctor.
I would also look into reporting your employer for terminating you. They can't fire you because of having too many doctor's appointments that were pregnancy-related (if that's what they fired you for.) That would be like them firing you for a doctor putting you on bedrest. Those appointments fall under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA, a federal law) and if the official reason they gave for firing you was because you missed so much time at work to go to these appointments, it sounds to me like they violated that law.
I would get another opinion. It's not normal to force an early delivery unless the baby is in distress (irregular heartbeat or other problem) or the placenta is not delivering the proper amount of nutrients to the baby. A baby can survive outside the womb at 35 weeks but it's much better to wait until full term if possible.
This doesn't sound good, at ALL!! Please change doctors and hospitals, NOW!!! Good luck and God bless!
i think so many doctors are idiots.....and i would be suspicious too
many of them are capitalist greedy as sholes
and i agree that ultrasounds get less accurate the farther in gestation you get
and i also think it is illegal to fire you for having pregnancy complications.....and medicaid should be able to retro-pay your bills....so get on that and get this taken care of
i suggest you find a new OB....or better yet a midwife who won't look at you like a medical case...in my area medicaid pays the midwives and they are wonderful
good luck honey

No 'abnormal function'? Hmm.
I'd do a LOT of reading, and a LOT of listening to my gut. Good luck.

MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
my 5 month old was laying on her belly and her 6 yr old sister was ';helping'; me when she wasnt suppossed to she flipped her from her belly to back and her arm got caught
she wouldnt stop crying the arm was limp for 15 minutes I called her dr. he said to give her tylenol
that it is very hard to break a babies arm.
he said give her tylenol every 4 hours and tomorrow bring her in if she is still uncomfortable.
has this happend before to anybody.MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
thats a tough one as a mom i know that you want to do all you can for your baby. if she popped her shoulder, tore a muscle or even broke the shoulder there is not a whole lot that can be done for it. but there is a chance that it's something worse and so i would recommend that if it starts swelling or the child still expresses pain in the area (try touching the shoulder/arm and if the baby cries or tries to pull the limb away then it still hurts) take the baby to an URGENT CARE CENTER not an emergency roomMOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
This is your child, you know her better than your doctor does. If she was screaming in pain and her arm was limp she should be seen immediately at the ER or urgent care (or A%26amp;E if you are in the UK). Sorry but as a mother myself, I find it difficult to believe that a doctor would give you such ridiculous advice, replace him immediately if you can! Meanwhile since your daughter cannot tell you how much pain she is in, you need to get her properly examined. I truly hope it turns out okay! Good luck!
If your baby is still fussing, I would take her to the emergency room to be examined and xrayed. Sometimes we have to go with our motherly instincts.

aww, poor little angel, your dr is probably right, babies are soooo tough, my son just last week fell off my bed head first! and he is fine, which is sooo scary when soemthing like this happens.
is there any obvious swelling or bruising?? did you put ice or anyting on it? ( iknow thats hard with a baby)
is she able to move it now at all? if so then i wouldnt worry too much, unless she is moving it and it is causing her extreme pain. it really hard to say without seeing it, but go with your gut, its always right.MOms please help dr said not to take her to emergency room to wait until tomorrow. any advice? shoulder/arm?
I've had something similiar. My 2 year old son has tried ';helping'; my 7 month old daughter. He's pulled her by her arm to help her get over the ledge into the toy room, and has rolled her over, pinning her arm under her. Although she cried, it was only for a few minutes. I never needed to give her tylenol, but you can tell she was sore for an hour or so.
I'm sure she'll be fine, babies are tough. But if you are truly concerned (which every mother has a right to be), then there is no harm in taking her to the dr tomorrow just to be safe.
Hugs %26amp; Wishes to your baby girl!
Hope it helps
The arm went LIMP and the Dr is saying it is no big deal? Get a new doctor and go to the ER. I think it got dislocated or severely sprained. Doctors do not always know best, and they often think moms are scared of nothing.
Even at 6 their bones are fully solid bone yet- lots of cartilge. So, it's probably not broken. But, I agree that it coudld have been dislocated some how. I know of toddlers who have gotten their arm or leg stuck in rails of a bed and have had to have it straightened out. It you want to take her in - do it. Your doctor isn't her parent.
take her in NOW this happened to my son and his arm wasnt broken but it was dislocated and they had to pop it back in.. i am so sorry for your sweet baby .. it will continue to hurt until they pop itr back in so dont hesitate
if she cries when you move it take her. if she is comfortable you can wait. if you have insurance it wont hurt to take her. i doubt its broken, it may be bruised or even dislocated.
Take the baby to the ER tonight and then explain it to your baby's doctor tomorrow. Your doctor can not see through to the phone to see if the arm is broken. Trust your instincts.
When I was 4 months old my 22 month old sister pulled me off the couch and broke my arm.
I don't remember it of course, but she did it.
My arm was put into a little cast and sling.
Even though its hard to break a baby arm still it was limp for 15 minutes you know i would still take her to the emergency room just in case.
Good luck
Babies' bones are quite soft so he's right in that sense. She may have wrenched it though and I think that would warrant at least some medical investigation!
For peace of mind, I would take her to the ER. Like the first person said, it could be dislocated.
Your doctor is a quack, take her to the ER, urgent care.
i'd take her in, it could be dislocated.

Im TTC my 1st, I have a Dr's appt on Wednesday (not for fertility), please help, i need advice!?
Well me and my HB were TTC from Nov 08 till June 09, it didn't happen so we decided to have a holiday and stop for a little bit, well this month is month one for us TTC again!!!
well i have regular periods (every 29-31 days) we previously tried pre-seed and clear blue OPK's (with no joy) well last week my 1st cousin was told she had PCOS so im worried now as it can be hereditary.
Am i silly to voice my concerns to my Dr? and maybe ask for some tests to see if im ovulating and fertile? i am going ot the Dr's for a different problem so can i mention about my fertility at the same time?
Im 25 i don't smoke and hardly ever drink!
thanks in advance for you r help! x
:)Im TTC my 1st, I have a Dr's appt on Wednesday (not for fertility), please help, i need advice!?
no that would not be silly at all, it would be sensible!
Ask your doctor what he/she thinks, they will be able to advise you and do some tests to see if they can help.
Good luck hun! xxIm TTC my 1st, I have a Dr's appt on Wednesday (not for fertility), please help, i need advice!?
you havent pcos luv as your haiving regular periods. it may be that your hubbie has a low sperm count or your not ovulating that strongly. youve been trying now for nearly a year, exxagerate a little bit more to your gp and request to be referred. he will do a few bloods first but the he'l refer you x
If you have not been preventing pregnancy but not ';trying'; that still counts as trying. After a year of unprotected sex 85% of women are pregnant. I would see what your doctor says. Mine said that she would refer me to this clinic if I wanted. A few months later, I made an appointment. I feel much better knowing what is going on.
Good luck and baby dust!!!
actually it would be the most responsible thing you can do..you and hubby must get tested...all the best
First things first- the doc wont do any tests on your fertility til after you've been trying for 1 year, and they wont test your ovulating as you are having regular periods which means you are.
I was trying for 9 months with my partner, and throughout those 9 months, we were both thinking oooh this could be the one that gets me pregnant. Of course I got sick of waiting so long so started to accept the fact I was obviously infertile and I'm never going to have children. So my partner and I decided to start having just dirty sex to be honest lol and enjoying every minute on it, babies being the last thing on our minds, and BANG I got pregnant. When we started ttc, we literally thought it wouldnt take long, maybe 3 months or so, but how wrong we were. It took us 9 months, it took one of my friends 2 years, another friend a year and a half. It takes time and will happen when its going to happen but you MUST STOP THINKING ABOUT IT SO MUCH.
It's so hard not to but the more you think about it the more it stresses you both out and your body will have none of it.
I wouldnt voice your fertility concerns to your doc just yet, just relax and let nature take its course.
Good luck xx

Please help with advice. I am really confused after today's visit to the Dr regarding pregnancy!?
I am confused. I went to the Dr today regarding a positive pregnancy test. I get there and the test was negative. The blood test stated I have extremely low HCG level. Then they did a sonogram and found a womb/cavity but it is empty. The womb did not have any fetus. I started bleeding heavily this morning before I got there and have not had a period since October. They told me it was a miscarriage that happened. Also that there is a possibility I could be just starting to develop a pregnancy. How can that be possible? The womb protects the baby. You can't have a womb and no fetus if the fetus was not there in the first place right? The fetus does not come after the womb develops. Doesn't make sense really.
I also found out I am RH negative which I had to get a shot to make the right antibodies for when I want to get pregnant again in the future to prevent RH negative disease or high risk pregnancies. I have been reading up on this but still don't understand this at all. Anyone familiar with this? Please help with advice. I am really confused after today's visit to the Dr regarding pregnancy!?
the womb is always there it is another name for uterusPlease help with advice. I am really confused after today's visit to the Dr regarding pregnancy!?
Your ';womb'; is your uterus, so you always have one, whether you are pregnant or not. Look up ';chemical pregnancy';- it sounds like that is what you had. You can have a gestational sac that doesn't have anything in it- it starts, but the fetus never develops. Your body will eliminate it nartually since it was so early on.

As much as I hate to tell you this, the early symptoms of pregnancy are also symptoms associated with PMS or late periods. Today is just Jan. 16th. You fertile period is actually around 14 days prior to your period, so if your period is late, you span of fertile days were later as well.
Wait it out, try to keep yourself occupied otherwise. And just when you least expect it, you'll be pregnant. Good luck. I've been down that road myself. I'm now the mom of 3 children.
Give it another day or so. I had periods like clockwork, and I was 2-3 days late before I got a positive. Maybe you can take clomid to help you ovulate for sure to help...cosmetics

Yes. I'd see a doctor asap, and a new one if need be. I don't know what your exact case is, but perhaps a chiropractor may help too. They can often help when doctors can't. Good luck to you!I'm seeing a Dr.for car wreck.June 16Th in so much pain ,neck and leg pain.head hurt, vision blurs.any advice?
