A lot of factors can add to pain. Age, osteoporosis, etc.
You may wish to check out www.hufa.org and click on pains on the home page. If the doctors can find no bone or muscle cause for your pain, and if you didn't over-exert somehow, then it may be biochemical in origin.
You may also wish to check out the info in your local library.

Find a dr the does injections in the spine. This help me a lot with my neck and uper back.
yoga has helped me immensely. it is hard to get into. i started by getting a video called yoga for inflexible people. good luck.
I am an alternative medicinal therapist and I have many patients with this problem. I use Massage and aromatherapy massage and acupressure. I have good results with all of these. Find a reputable therapist, you won't be sorry.

Get a proper assessment at a licenced Massage Therapist and take along any exrays that your chiro had taken with their report.
