Concern for my sister in law. I know that there are no dr鈥檚 on here just give advice please. Thanks.?

My sister 鈥搃n law took like 5 pregnancy tests all were positive. She went to Hospital to be for sure and they gave a blood test, which came out positive, ultra sound but they could not see anything, and HCG test which was 3500, and also her cervix was slightly opened. At first they said she was 4 week, then came back and said she was about to have a miscarriage. Today she had appointment with gyn. Her HCG went from 3500 to 8233 in 2 days (But they did not check her cervix). She has had no pain a few small blood clots, and little to no blood on pad. (Barley any). Is it possible she is still pregnant and First doc. Diagnosis her wrong? If she was miscarrying how come HCG like almost tripled, would it decrease if miscarriage was present instead of increasing? And why could they not see anything on ultra sound.Concern for my sister in law. I know that there are no dr鈥檚 on here just give advice please. Thanks.?
At 4 weeks it's not surprising that they couldn't see anything. Even doing an ultrasound at 6 weeks, it would be difficult to find the embryo.

What does the blood look like? Was it brown or light pink? Or was it bright red like period blood? If it was brown or light pink, it may just be some spotting which can be normal during pregnancy. However, if it was bright red, it is likely that she may miscarry.

You're right, it doesn't make sense that her HCG levels have gone up. I think she should get another opinion.Concern for my sister in law. I know that there are no dr鈥檚 on here just give advice please. Thanks.?
UPDATE- she went to doctor today and had ultrasound-she is pregnant and she is 6 weeks pregnant.

Hm. Maybe the Dr's thought she was being threatened by a miscarriage if her hormones are doubling I think that is a very good sign. Just have her watch for more bleeding and any cramping.

I wish you all the best of luck!
wow, they are really high. maybe she's having more than one baby.

Does Dr Laura flip flop back and forth on her points of view when dispensing advice?

Yes! I feed and care for my husband and have completely surrendered and I still don't know what to do! LOL! But seriously, I hear her contridicting herself constantly. (when I can stand to listen to her.)Does Dr Laura flip flop back and forth on her points of view when dispensing advice?
She does not seem to when I listen to her. It seems to me like she always sides against the person who's calling regardless of what they say. She always seems to point them out as the ones in the wrong, which is probably more beneficial to anything. Nobody ever gets anywhere if they're constantly focusing on the fact that they're right and everyone else is wrong.

So even though she gives different advice in different situations, I really don't see it as conflicting.Does Dr Laura flip flop back and forth on her points of view when dispensing advice?
Dr. Laura needs some big time psycho therapy.
No, she is a consistent advocate of sanity. Politics has nothing to do with it. I'm not a Republican, but the woman is smart and dispenses good advice based on common sense.
She's a Republican. It's a God given right for them.
No if anything she is adament the whole time
i would say no

  • Advice from a PT, chiro, or Dr for the source of this pain in my hip please!?

History: Initially the pain was very intense in my groin, right at the front of the hip in that groin crease, dull as apposed to sharp but quite intense in severity but only when walking. Not a shooting skinny electrical pain.

Each step on the right leg caused this intense pain in the front of my hip/groin. The pain was worse on hip extension. The pain spread downwards in the shape of a fan the size of my hand , on the upper front of my thigh (but not a skin pain)

I also had a sharp pain in the anterior medial aspect of my lower thigh above the knee, again only on each step. Above the knee, it is best described as being at 7oclock if I was looking down to my knee. It wasnt an electrical nerve pain either , more like a very well defined ache that spread upwards in a small fan shape.

Initially in this first week of hell I also had pain in the back of my thigh too, again only with each step. (I cant remember now if it was runnign up from the knee or going down from the top.)

If I continued to walk for more than a few minutes with these pains then my entire upper thigh (at the front) felt like it was on fire, a real burning ache.

Even driving the car hurt my thigh then- when I had to take my foot on and off the accelerator and move it to the brake and back again. At the height of the aching 'constant' burning pain that I would get it felt like I had been given a 'dead leg' (punched in the thigh).

The sharp pain continued with each step on the right side.It was becomming sharper and more defined. The burning across the top of my thigh lasted about a week. Mind you I stopped my 'exercise' walking after the first day and stayed home to rest it. The pain in the back of my leg had considerably weakened too and wasnt a problem anymore.

It has now been 18 days since initial injury. Whilst the week of rest gave some improvement in that aching, the last 11 days have shown no improvement at all. It feels like something is out of place. Like something is catching or getting pinched with each step, right in the front of my groin. If I was to look down my body the pain would be at 1 oclock below my iliac crest.

Tonight I lay on my back and put my R heel on my L knee to test a muscle group. It was mildly painful but more uncomfortable and tight feeling. Leaving my foot there I let my R knee slowly lower to the bed and the pain was gripping me in the inner thigh before it was even a fraction lowered. I brought that knee back up to stop the exercise and ease the pain but when I raised my foot up to straighten my leg it felt like I had pinched a nerve in my groin. The pain was so severe it took my breath away and I began to panick. It was like a dislocation in that to try and move it made the pinch even worse. The pain was unbearable until the groin joint popped and I could put my leg down. It all happened quite quickly though. I have repeatead this (gingerly two more times tonight) and the same thing happened.

(I feel I am getting misdiagnosed so was trying to isolate muscle groups.)

It hurts more to walk uphill or upstairs.

When I am not walking it doesnt hurt at all.

But if I do a 20min walk and therefore suffer 1000 steps of sharp pain then it leaves my upper thigh/groin aching.

I have spent hours online looking at signs and symtoms and diagnostics for the muscles and ligaments and joints in this region.

Today I pushed in where the pain was, in the front of my hip/groin, whilst I walked and the pain went away, when I took my fingers off - the pain returned.

I am an RN and I dont believe this is sciatica pain.

No offence to the kind people wanting to answer this question but if you are not experienced in this field please dont post a guess disguised as a diagnosis. As I said I feel I have been misdiagnosed (wont put the diagnosis in here yet) so I am curious to hear a second professional opinion to see if it matches my own.

I have tried to be as specific as possible.

    Thankyou in advance,

JoAdvice from a PT, chiro, or Dr for the source of this pain in my hip please!?
I agree, not consistent with sciatica at all!

I would say you may have a radiculopathy (somewhere L2-L3 I would estimate). Have you had back injuries?

If not, also consider a problem with the hip joint itself, as this can cuase joint pain and may radiate down the leg as well. I would be concerned for something like osteonecrosis (taken any steroids lately?), occult or stress fracture (any trauma, or do you have osteoporosis?), or acute synovitis.

Certainly get a second opinion if you're unhappy with your work-up. I think you at least deserve plain xrays, and if you have radicular symptoms, you could argue for spinal imaging as well, maybe even an MRI of the hip, given your pain right over the groin region.

hope this helps!Advice from a PT, chiro, or Dr for the source of this pain in my hip please!?
Step one - go see a neurologist, they will do an EMG, if the sciatic nerve is pinched, there is your answer. Sciatica

    - also the neurologist may order and MRI of the thoraco-lumbar spine, further answers - herniated disc, foraminal stenosis, radiculopathy...

This all sounds unilateral, so its not going to be claudication. Dissection through your iliac artery is possible but extremely rare without you having some other pain somewhere else.

    good luck

My daughter who is 5yrs old has nose bleeds when the season changes .Her Dr says it is all ok any advice pleas

she's probably just getting used to the season changes. i used to get them all the time. if it keeps happening maybe think about nose caughterisation (sorry about the spelling). I've had both mine done, i haven't had one since i was 8 =]My daughter who is 5yrs old has nose bleeds when the season changes .Her Dr says it is all ok any advice pleas
I was like that as a kid but grew out of it eventually ,when I was about 12 years old.Keep your eye on her and report back to doc ,if you are too worried, just to reassure yourself.I had no treatment for it and was otherwise perfectly healthy. My daughter who is 5yrs old has nose bleeds when the season changes .Her Dr says it is all ok any advice pleas
My 2 year old son has had a few nose bleeds in his day. And they seem to be around the season change. I asked his doctor and she said that it's normal. It's from breathing in the dry cold air. She recommend having him sleep with a humidifier in the room, but she didn't say it was necessary.
I still have this problem, its worse for me in the winter when we turn on the heat. What seems to help the best for me is vasaline/saline drops in each nose to keep the membranes moistureized.
Oh, it's natural. My cousins and I used to have bloody noses when the seasons changed. ^_^
I do this for myself put a little bit of neosporin on a q tip a gently rub it in the surface of her nose, not to much. It will help heal and moisturise. Get humidifiers in the months you use heaters.
yes it is all OK as it will stop bleeding as she grow up

just make her drink fresh juice ( orange and lemon esp. ) and have a spoonful of honey at morning .

avoid dusty places as much as you can
    Trust your doctor.
my wee boy is the same with is nose bleeds i had to bring him to hospital and get the inside of his nose burn there is a name for it but cant remember it. he is find now with his nose bleeds.
May be from cold, dry air.
This just started with my 3 year old son, I bought a humidifier and when he is sleeping I put it on. He hasn't had a nose bleed in 2 weeks.
Changes in the air, the air gets dryer and more humid. Try to stabilize her sinuses by putting a humidifier in her room at night.
the ari might be to dry for her. try to buy a humidifier or boil a pot of hot water on low while your awake to put some moisture in the air
I had nightly nose bleeds as a child especially during dry heat environments- outside or dry air in the house- My daughter has had frequent nose bleeds as well- I grew out of it- It did reoccur during pregnancy ( probably due to elevated body temperature). This was heavy bleeding lasting from 15-30 minutes -- Al I did was apply a cool compress to the head and elevated hid on pillow just slightly to keep the blood from rushing out. This worked about 955 of the time. If your is worse or persist- contact your doctor again or get 2nd opinion.
My youngest, who is now 15, had the most spectacular nose bleeds from the age of ten months until about two years ago; and they seemed to have no real cause; sometimes a change in air pressure could give him a nose bleed - and by that I mean driving up a steep road could make it bleed! Plane travel, a slight cold, seasonal changes, you name it. My G.P. said it was fine, a weak vein was causing the bleed, and he mentioned possibly cauterizing the vein if it was very troublesome.

He grew out of it; I guess when he hit puberty it may have had some beneficial side effect. I never panicked; I just used to say, ';oops, a gusher,'; and kind of make a joke about it.
    Consult another doctor.
Any chance your daughter actually gets a cold or stuffy nose when the weather changes? That's actually really common.

I'm inclined to suggest she's actually trying to de-booger her nose.

If that's not the case, it could just be really dry. Either way, see if she will allow you to use a saline nasal spray (like the Little Noses spray). It'll help it from getting so dry. Dryness also causes boogers, so weather it's caused from the dry weather itself, or from picking her nose, that'll probably take care of it.
does she eat well could she be lacking in vitimins I think this causes nosebleeds she may have a sensitive nose
It could be seasonal allergys. Maybe you can try some allergy medications, and some nasal lubricants. You can either buy these over the counter, or have your doctor prescribe some medication for her. Good luck.
well my son is 5 years old too and he's constantly bleeding everywhere so im constantly washing all the time. I took him into the dr.s office and she said he's fine (thank God) but she did tell me its because his nose gets dry inside and I could just get a little vaseline and rub it on the inside of his nose, since then he hasnt had nose bleeds, he knows its been helping because he puts it in his self now when he starts getting irritated in his nose. well hope this helps and good luck....
Maybe she could just be the way her body is if it doesn't go away after a while go back to the doctor again and ask him if he knows what to do.

What advice would you give to someone if they wanted to because a doctor like 'Dr. Gregory House'?

    Yea.

so he is kinda my idol.

I want to become a doctor because of him.

    advice maybe?

    and yea

I DO know that he is not really a doctor and he is just a actor.

but still. What advice would you give to someone if they wanted to because a doctor like 'Dr. Gregory House'?
While he is brilliant, and yes I adore him too, I would not want to be on the receiving end of his bedside manner. makes for a great show though! What advice would you give to someone if they wanted to because a doctor like 'Dr. Gregory House'?
Nothing wrong with liking a character on television and i think House is a good constructive influence to viewers who are inclined to practice medicine. Im not sure what ur age is but if u are in highschool right now, concentrate on ur sciences, to prepare urself to go to obtaining a degree that will serve as your premed prior to getting into med school. good luck to you and hope you will get want you want in life

HELP! I took a Qualitative Blood Test- Negative! Dr. said need a Quantitative Test? Advice/Stories?

I'm 7 days late and have a lot of symptoms. I have NO STRESS! per a counselor. I have an HMO, every doctor has diagnosed me with something different. I still have naseua and constant dull headache. Spoke with nurse advice and she said she thought I was PREGNANT. Family history: sister had period until 3 months pregnant (just decided to ask her), cousin who didn't get her positive hpt until 3RD month prego. I have an appt. with a GYNO on Monday afternoon. She said that the blood work done was just as sensative as a HPT. What are your experieces and results. I know everyone is different, but I can't go through this weekend stressin. PLEASE all advise and stories are much appreciated!!! I will vote for the best answer. AND THANK YOU ALL THAT ANSWER!HELP! I took a Qualitative Blood Test- Negative! Dr. said need a Quantitative Test? Advice/Stories?
I guess the big question is, have you had unprotected sex or trying to get pregnant.? Blood tests for pregnancy are very sensitive, if its negative, you probably are NOT pregnant unless it is just days after conception.

Lots of illnesses can seem like pregnancy. Headache is usually not a symptom of pregnancy. You could have sinus problems that are causing this, you could have migranes, any number of things. I would go back to your regular doctor and have them run tests. HELP! I took a Qualitative Blood Test- Negative! Dr. said need a Quantitative Test? Advice/Stories?
Do a quantitative hcG test - that will definitely answer your question. Everything else is just a guess like the nurse. You could be pregnant or not. You could have had a chemical pregnancy or not. You could just be having a late period (hormonal imbalance) or not. You could have an infection or not. It is impossible for anyone to tell.

And if you want guesses, I would say it is just hormonal imbalance / late period.
With this pregnancy I had quantitive tests done as there was a fear of blighted ovum. With my last pregnancy when I had a blood test to check if I was pregnant, they also did a quantitive blood test (well I assume it was because it told them the numbers of my hcg levels which allowed them to tell me how far along I was). I assumed all blood pregnancy tests were taken this way. My understanding of the quantitive tests is that they are the same blood test but repeated a couple of days apart to measure if the hcg levels are rising. I've never heard of somebody being pregnant when their blood tests came back negative as they can tests for levels much earlier than a hpt but I'm not exactly sure of what blood work was done. As for your symptoms if it were me I would assume I wasn't pregnant. There could be so many things that are causing these symptoms, and you may never even find out what it is. I can tell you that I have had very irregular periods when I was younger and many times the drs thought incorrectly that I was either pregnant or having a miscarriage. One time in particular stands out to me I went into hospital to be told I was having a miscarriage when I was 13yo, I wasn't even sexually active but they refused to believe me and thought I was lying for my parents sake!!!! I think the appt with the gyno is a very good idea and I'm sorry I'm not much help to you, good luck

Advice on how to talk to my dr.

so my psych dr told me i should talk to my family dr and tell her how many tylenol ive been taking. in the last 4 months ive taken close to 300 pills, some of ti was a suicide type thing(just wanting the pain to stop) but the rest is just that im in a llot of pain and i do have some medical conditions that i am currently getting test for and treatment. but i dont know what to tell my dr, im scared what she would do.

any suggestionsAdvice on how to talk to my dr.
You must tell your doctor precisely what you have taken and how many. He/she will understand that all you have been trying to do is get rid of the pain and that it was not a suicide trip. The sooner you see your doctor the sooner your pain will end. Good luck to you. You will be in my prayers.Advice on how to talk to my dr.

Who's advice would you be most likely to listen too, Oprahs, dr phils, Tyras, or a 10 year old boy?

Oprah = Has other people say advice for her, and Self Centerd

Phil = Doesn't know what he is talking about

Tyra = I don't know what to call it, over protective?

10 year old boy = not cought up with money and can actually give advice.Who's advice would you be most likely to listen too, Oprahs, dr phils, Tyras, or a 10 year old boy?
Tyra cause she is hot, maybe she could give me a makeover and land me a date with the prom queenWho's advice would you be most likely to listen too, Oprahs, dr phils, Tyras, or a 10 year old boy?
10 year old boy - they speak the truth and nothing but the truth
in this day and time i might go with the 10 year old boy lol
tyras she seems so much more fun and believable
If Tyra advised me to .......well you know.....I would take that advice for sure!
    10 year old boy

Orca doesn't know half the stuff she talks about

    Dr. Feel is too loud

    Tyra is too conceited looking
    A ten year old boy.
I would go for the ten year old because he wouldn't pussyfoot around the topic, and he would give you his honest straight out opinion. The others would go around the topic at hand and not really help too well.

  • I've just returned from my DR, and I'm very upset..advice?

I am 25, 5'3 and 130 pounds. I know, I only need to lose around 10-12 pounds and I'm generally OK with my weight. I eat really healthy and I exercise 5 times a week alternating between cardio and some aerobics with weights.

I had some blood tests today and I learned that I have hypothyroidism.

How can I deal with this? I am very shocked.

I mean, I know that I've never been really thin and I just blamed it on my bone structure. I had no idea that it was this.

With this condition, how will I be able to lose weight after having a baby??

I learned that it's even hard to get pregnant when you have this condition.

I am very upset and worried for my body and weight.

Any advice? :(I've just returned from my DR, and I'm very upset..advice?
I have hypothyroidism and have been able to lose weight.I've had two children and just like everyone else I had to watch what I ate to get the pounds off. It's going to be alright, don't worry. OK? Best wishes..Affy.

The treatment of hypothyroidism during pregnancy is relatively straightforward in most cases. A synthetic form of T4 is given to replace the missing hormone. The dose of the medication is regularly adjusted to maintain a steady blood level of thyroid hormone within the normal range. Therefore, it is routine practice to monitor the blood level of the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) while monitoring hypothyroidism during pregnancy. In many respects, the treatment of hypothyroidism in pregnancy is similar to that in nonpregnant women.I've just returned from my DR, and I'm very upset..advice?
Just take care easy! and there are websites that can advise with these condition, be positive, your are young :) best of luck

I over paid a past Dr. bill and I received a refund for the amount. I took it to the bank, it bounced. ADVICE?

How do I retreive the money from a large hospital??I over paid a past Dr. bill and I received a refund for the amount. I took it to the bank, it bounced. ADVICE?
Contact your doctor personally (go to his office) and let them know what is going on. If there is still no refund, then I would suggest hiring an attorney. Not a good sign for a hospital to bounce a check! I wouldn't trust them after that with anything....good luck!I over paid a past Dr. bill and I received a refund for the amount. I took it to the bank, it bounced. ADVICE?
First, be sure to keep all documentation in relation to this incident. Secondly, if you can communicate by email, that's better since you have a record of all transactions. Contact the finance department of the hospital and start from there. Make them aware of the rubber check and let them know your expectations. Give them a reasonable set time frame in which to respond and go from there. If it comes down to it, if it's under $5000, you could file a civil action in small claims court to win your money back. Good luck!
Depending on the amount, if you're in the US your state attorney general probably has a department which deals just in bad checks. They might be willing to help you.

Again, if you're in the US, filing a suit in small claims court might result in a public notice of the situation, which might be embarrasing to the writer of the check. Sometimes just the threat of generating some public information is good enough to get the problem solved.

Do your communications via email, so you have a good record of what you say and what is said to you. If you meet with them in person, take a witness who will be there during ALL conversation
Go talk to the hospital. They owe you the amount you paid, plus any fees you may have paid because of this.
Take the check to their finance department and tell them..........surly they will reissue a good one..............If you suffered any bounced checks b/c of them, I would hold them responsible and as all business charge US for bounced checks, I would charge them $25 for your trouble, AT LEAST.
speak to the billing department and if that doesn't get you any wear wright a letter to the Dr himself and explain it to him he maybe be able to fix it for you, really they can be nice people, stop laughing...
Call up the hospital, prove that the check bounced, and they would be liable for your bounced check fees, plus the cost of the check itself. If you get no satisfication, take the check to your local District Atty. office.
Writing a check with insufficient funds is a felony. You want to find out whether it bounced because of ISF. If not find out why. If so Get your paper work and go to the hospital's billing department and ask for the supervisor. Don't leave until you get the replacement check and all your extra fees. Tell them you understand that this must be a mistake. But let them know gently that something that careless can get the person who signs the check in jail and that the newspaper would love to get a hold of the story about the hospital going broke.

Thanks for all the advice but what im worried is she not american yet so i dont know how much the dr want?

The doctor isn't going to ask for her green card or citizenship papers and then decide on a price.

It isn't horrible that she hasn't had prenatal care yet but it would be good to go now. Make sure she is getting prenatal vitamins and look for a free clinic in your area or a general/public hospital. There are so many places in America you can get free health care you just need to do a little investigating as to where.

If she has a green card she should be able to get WIC but that could also effect the citizenship application process if they find out about it.Thanks for all the advice but what im worried is she not american yet so i dont know how much the dr want?
What? Que?Thanks for all the advice but what im worried is she not american yet so i dont know how much the dr want?
Call 1-800-230-PLAN, or your local WIC office, or public health and see what free programs are available to you. There should be some.

I want to see if I can get some advice before I tell my dr...?

I was supposed to be taking Yasmin BC, but decided against it when I got the script filled. Since then (Jan09), I have had terrible mood swings, acne, thoughts of death and dying, and stress/anxiety. I also have a 2 1/2 yo and 4 month old. So, this past week, I was diagnosed with having panic attacks and stress/anxiety disorder, as well as having had PPD after my baby. And after ALL that, I still haven't gotten my period. Now I have been taking menopause supplements for my acne and mood swings (its a herbal hormone balancer from GNC). I don't know if the supps with stress are prohibiting my period, but now I'm very GLAD I didn't take the BCP because it may have whacked out my body even further. I do not take the supplements regularly - I take them every other day. Could it be the stress? I have had sex with my fiance, but he says he hasn't ';slipped up'; so he has no reason to think I am. Also, I didn't preg with either of my kids until I tried BCP and then had to stop for one reason or another. THAT'S when I got preggo, when I stopped the BCP. Please help - I really don't want to go to my dr without some reason why I am still waiting for my period. I think it is the stress, but who knows.

LMP - 2/14 (They were coming every 26 days since Dec 08, but I have never been regular in my life before my last son, so I'm going to chuck it to that...)

Panic Attacks / Anxiety Disorder - Left Chest stabbing pains; heart pounding, sweating sometimes; trouble catching breath; lasts about 45-60 seconds I think. Started with 1st son's preg in Jan06.

Please help with anything you possibly can - Thanks...I want to see if I can get some advice before I tell my dr...?
As a nurse I will tell you you do not need an explanation for your doctor you go in there tell him what is wrong not taking BC is your choice.... and if you are terminating pregnancy does not really matter how it happened anyway.... good luck doctors are not their to judge you they are there to treat you and make you well... as a nurse I will tell you to seek a counselor for the stress depression and anxiety as you have two other children to think about they can put you on effexor and kolonopin to help you and you will notice amazing mood improvements and enjoy life again...and your kids and maybe even the idea of having a baby...

one xray is not going to harm the fetus although it is not recommendedI want to see if I can get some advice before I tell my dr...?
You could have a serious medical problem brewing and you are ignoring it. Go to the doctor.

And if you don't want to be pregnant get a tubal ligation or birth control, or something so you can't try to avoid getting pregnant. To kill a baby is awful!!
stay away from pills if you can avoid them. even if its for acne. dont mix herbal supplements with prescribed meds without asking your doc.

let your fiancee wear a condom so you dont have to take birth control pills. and use spermicide.

pills have bad side effects for many people. side effects that are worse than the actual benefits.

My Dr. wants me to get the IUD? Can someone give me some advice?

You know your Dr. might think he knows what is best for you but you gotta go with what you are comfortable with. A lot of people are afraid to say ';No'; to their doctor. Its your body and believe it or not you know your body better than any doctor does! If an IUD isn't your thing ask for info on some differents birth controls! I use Depo Provera and its the right one for me! Don't just settle cause you doc says so!My Dr. wants me to get the IUD? Can someone give me some advice?
IUDs got a bad reputation in the 70s because of a faulty product called Dalkon Shield that was rushed to market without proper testing (back in the days before IUDs were regulated by the FDA). Bad design caused bacterial infections and even deaths, and Dalkon Shileds were recalled and banned. Americans haven't forgotten that disaster, and it's ruined the reputation of an excellent form of birth control.

IUDs are great for many women because they do not necessarily alter the woman's hormones (there are hormonal versions, too, which are sort of a combo of an IUD and the pill -- but they are no more effective than the non-hormonal ones), they don't require much effort or maintenance (just a monthly check to make sure they're still in place), they're extremely effective, and they're immediately reversible if you decide you want to get pregnant.

Before you rule out the IUD, please do some more research. Women all over the world use them with great success and find them to be safer, gentler, and easier to use than any other birth control. My Dr. wants me to get the IUD? Can someone give me some advice?
An inter-uterine device IUD, can cause problems.

Go back 2 the Docs, tell him 2 offer another suggestion.
Its very effective and non hormonal so you dont get the problems you would get with the shot or pills, ring, etc. It still carries some risk of concieving just like any other birth control method. They inster it nonsurgically into your uterus and it stays put, you dont ever feel it, not even through sex. Its expensive but if you hate hormonal methods or cant keep up with trying to be ';safe';, I'd say go for it.
Tell him No and get another DR. IUDs can cause all kinds of problems. There are safer Birthcontrol methods out there.
Bleieve it or not... the IUD is a great, easy way to use birth controll. As with any BC there can be side effects, but the IUD can be a non hormonal, just a bit of copper, hint, allergy test befor you have it placed! that way you'll know if you're allergic, very few people are, but you nevedr know. Anyway, IUD, less messy, don't have to remember to take anything, and the best part, no hormonal side effects! Love it!
hi! what i can say is, you just take birth control pills. it's safer and more reliable. better yet just have tubal ligation if you don't want to have more kids.

Advice needed: C-section and uncooperative dr's... what to do?

Last week I went to the dr. still complaining of pains (4 wks after operation). Dr. found UTI infection and prescribed antibiotics. I was also having pains in my incision so, dr. saw me back later in week and prescribed flexiril (which I found completely knocks me out)! Now, a week later I am still having sharp and achy pains in stomach, have a temp of 99.4, and dr. is failing to do anything useful. I called at 11am this morning and they didn't call me back until 6:30pm. I missed the call and am stuck until tomorrow. What would you do in this situation? Any ideas what could be wrong?Advice needed: C-section and uncooperative dr's... what to do?
Go to the emergency room! So many things could be going on. Obviously your dr. doesn't want to deal with it, so go see someone else. The sooner the better!Advice needed: C-section and uncooperative dr's... what to do?
    Go to the E.R.

Sometimes ,but its not common, there can be a piece of gauze left in your abdomen. I'm so not trying to freak you out but you def finally should go to the E.R

    Wish you the best
    gee, i don't know.

    %26lt;%26lt;dr. saw me back later in week and prescribed flexiril (which I found completely knocks me out)!%26gt;%26gt;

so he prescribed a medication you don't like, and stopped taking. i bet you still have the problem.

    %26lt;%26lt; Now, a week later I am still having sharp and achy pains in stomach %26gt;%26gt;

    Yep, there's still a problem.

now i'm not saying that the Dr couldn't do more.

but it would seem that you're part of the problem as well.

    sorry.
Trust your gut, if you fell you should go to the ER do so otherwise. Go to Urgent care tomorrow.
i would go and see another doc if i were you...but usually you go through pains and discmfort for, 4-8 weeks...after a c section...i never had one but this is what i heard...are you following docs orders as far as treating the incision with care? go to the ER dont wait till tommorow to speak to this other doc...
You may be having your first post delivery period. That would account for the pain and cramps. It is normal to have it between 4-6 weeks after delivery. If your fever hits 101 go to emergency room.Other wise just take warm baths and try to relax , stress causes many symptoms after a c-section.If after 5 days the bleeding doesn't let up then go to the ER.In the mean time take ibuprofen and relax.
I would go to the ER and find another Dr to finsh up with your care. What you are going thru is just not right. I find it funny that they gave you flexiril for pain that med is used for muscle spasms.
Instead of waiting for your doctor to call you back go to the ER.. My sister had a minor surgery done on her cervix to remove cancer and had pains and bleeding and all kinds of things after a week.. She called the doctor and they never called her back and if they did it was as the office was closing.. She finally went into the ER, and was told that a piece of gauze was left inside her and that it had caused an infection to set up.. Having pain this long after surgery isnt a good sign.. You really need to just give up on hearing from the doctor and get it checked out now.. Best of Luck and Congratulations on the new baby...
Get your bum into the ER! You have tried to contact your doctor with your concerns and obviously he or she is not being helpful AT ALL, which is irresponsible on their part. So, I would suggest going to the ER.

It's possible that nothing is wrong, but you could have an infection, or they could have left some gauze inside your abdomen. My mom had a C-section and was fine after about 3 weeks. She climbed a mountain 5 weeks after having her C-section (which she probably SHOULDN'T have done... but oh well, whats done is done haha). But my point is, yes there is some pain and discomfort that comes along with C-sections, but you shouldn't have so many complications a month after having had one.

Please go to the ER for your sake. If nothing else, it will at least ease your mind if nothing is wrong. Best of luck to you, and hope you feel better. Congrats on the new baby!
since the dr did find an infection, if you have any further discomfort, you should go straight to the emergency room....if they ask, tell them the name of your doctor and have them document that on your hospital records. something could be seriously wrong....the infection could have spread, the incision could not be healing properly, etc...

  • I heard recently Dr. Ferber changed his stance on the cry it out issue-what is his new advice on this topic?

    ';Crying to sleep may not be the answer for all children, particularly those who suffer serious separation anxiety.';

HOWEVER, I read your other question, and, when dealing with a toddler, you have to let them have their tantrums. Babies have numerous reasons for crying harshly and unstoppably, but toddlers need to learn to be independent. They can understand the world around them, the way things interact, and what that they have to do things they don't necessarily like.I heard recently Dr. Ferber changed his stance on the cry it out issue-what is his new advice on this topic?

I heard recently Dr. Ferber changed his stance on the cry it out issue-what is his new advice on this topic?
I would never let a baby fall asleep crying. i tried it with my first one but it didnt work, it was one of the gratest mistakes in my life, i feel ashamed because of it. i will never do it with my second. that is: she cries when I hold her and she is tired. then I put her down, and sometimes she cries one or two minutes, and then falls asleep. thats her way as we experienced it. but crying out is another thing. and: EVERY child has separation anxiousness, no matter what age. dont make him believe he has a reason to be anxious about you disappearing and ignoring him - for ever. because a ';few hours'; (or the whole night) seems like an endless time to him.

i would not treat a human being so - not even a grownup. But a baby! My own child, who I carried 9 months long in my womb. why would he want to be without me all of sudden? am i his mother only when its day, and not in the night??

I had worked for a trucking company for over 5 years, have a very good record. I can only answer as I assume you are stating, as the English is appaling and I cannot understand 1/2 of it. First, you must get legal representation. Your legal representative will get all company records related to the accident and all Doctor's reports. The next stage will be for your legal rep to put a case together. Once he / she has done so, he / she will contact the company regarding compensation. Your case will be communicates between your representative and the company's legal representative. Within 2 months, you should get a first offer. This comes from the company's insurer via the legal representatives. You should be advised to reject the first offer. You'll know the reason for this when you are informed of the amount offered. Within a further two to three months, you should get a second offer. Once again, you may be advised to reject the offer, even though it could be as high as double the first offer. If you reject the 2nd offer, your legal representative should file a claim in the civil courts. This can take a few months before you get a hearing. Within a day or two of the hearing, it is highly likely that you will be made a further offer, to prevent the court action. In many cases, this offer could be higher than what you will be awarded if you win your case in the court. Don't forget, you could lose your case, so this offer has to be considered seriously. Your claim should include, compensation for your injury, reimbursement of all your medical bills, any losses that are directly related, such as loss of wages, taxi fares to the Doctors etc. and now the most important, compensation for ';Unfair Dismissal';. You probably have a different term for this but even US courts do not like companies that fire people whilst they are sick. In the UK, it is a criminal offence for a company to fire somebody because of and / or whilst they are ill. Apart from the compensation, the company also gets fined. If you are ill, from an industrial accident and it is expected to be long term, an employer should have pensioned you off rather than sack you. Take the bast***s to the cleaners! In the meantime, check that the accident has been reported correctly as per US Law. Your employer may have a legal duty to inform the local authority or a Government Agency, if so check that they did. If they didn't, report them! I don't know if your system is the same but in the UK, every company is legally obligated to have an ';Accident Book'; of which ';ALL'; accidents, regardless of how minor, have to be logged. If the US is the same, make sure that it was logged. Without evidence, you could find it extremely difficult to prove the accident occured at work and you can guarantee that the employer will try to cover it up, if they can. You cannot rely on colleagues as witnesses, if the company can cover it up, as the company will make threats of job losses for any person that supports your testimony. Nobody wants to lose their job so they'll turn their back on you. Another way a company may act is to promote a potential witness of yours. The extra pay is their reward for keeping their mouth shut.WORKMANS COMP MESS, NEED ADVICE. injured on job, thought not serious at 1st. saw dr 3 times in 4 wks?
Get your Dr. to write them a letter stating why your healing time is taking longer than expected and the method of treatment needed to heal your leg. There is an appeal board and a copy of the letter should be sent to them.If you feel you were unfairly treated and get no where with them there are options such as getting a lawyer involved or an overseeing Government authority such as an ombudsman from your province. Good luck.

Should i trust my dr or be more concerned? miscarriage. need advice.?

i went in for my 13 weeks ultrasound and found out my baby stopped growing early on and they called it a blighted ovum but arent sure when exactly the baby passed cuz it was so small. my body hasnt registered im not pregnant so my gestational sac kept growing and stopped at 12 weeks. my hormone level was down to 700 friday and 365 monday. The dr thinks i will miscarry on my own, but i still havent, although i spotted orange yesterday and have been having slight ';cramps';. So ive been carrying my passed away child for over 2 months?! my mother is concerned it will make me sick, i woke up with a fever a couple nights ago, but have felt fine since. So u think i should tell them i want a d+c or just trust it isnt destroying my uterus and making me sick? im scared and so sad. i just dont want to carry this child anymore, it hurts my heart. all this time ive thought i had a healthy 13 week old fetus and its gone. im scared. what do u think? Do u think i will miscarry soon since i spotted some?Should i trust my dr or be more concerned? miscarriage. need advice.?
I'm sadden to read about your loss but I know and you will be blessed again with another angel soon. Miscarriages are painful so I really would suggest you speaking with your Dr. again so he can assure you that you will be okay by waiting. Going to the hospital to have the D/C completed is a must and that's for your health. Take care of yourself.Should i trust my dr or be more concerned? miscarriage. need advice.?
Your Dr. should of given you some meds to help you pass eveything that is remaining. Then gone on with the D%26amp;C.

    I am very sorry!
I am so sorry that you are going thru this. I have had 2 miscarriages since Christmas so I know how you feel. I would get a second optinion if I were you. You never know what another doctor might find out. Good luck!!!
I am so so sorry about what happened to you, I know how you feel I also had a miscarriage at 6 weeks this past New Years Eve. If I were you I would totally ask for a D%26amp;C. I didn鈥檛 get one because I completely lost the baby on my own right away. Seriously I would call your doctor as soon as possible. Stay strong, I know that it is easier said than done (believe me I know) but it will happen for you and you will have a baby
I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I have been there and know how much you are hurting! From my own experience that I felt that the D %26amp;C was more painful and hurtful than when I have passed the fetus on my own. I have had 3 miscarriages and It is not a easy factor. If you are concerned that it might be making you sick, you can request a D%26amp;C be done. If your doctor does not want to preform that procedure, I might find another doctor that seems to care about how you feel as well as about your treatment. Goodluck and It will get better, the pain and hurt will finally subside.
I'm so sorry to hear u are going through this. I would get another doctors opinion. It doesnt seem right that they told you just to wait for it to pass. How long does this waiting process usually take? I too had a miscarriage in Feb. I was only 6 weeks and it passed by itself. I cant imagine having to know u are carrying somthing that isnt really there. I would be a little worried about the fever too. I think u should call ur doctor up and speak to someone about ur concerns. This is ur body and no1 knows it like u do and know one cares about it like u do. I would call. Im sorry u have to go through all this.

My son's dr. was changed what should i do? advice please?

ok my son's insurance card came yesterday and they gave him a new dr. a family dr.! he had been seeing his pediatrician that saw him since he was born, he is 5 months old,but anyways i am not sure what to do now, i like his old dr. but dont like the 3 hour wait and the rude nurses, i dont know anything about this new dr. well my question is should i keep the old dr. or see this new dr. and see how everything goes? i dont know is it better if he see's his pediatrician or this family dr.? the new dr. is closer to home but i dnt know how she is? what would you suggest? keep the old dr. and put up with the long waits, tiny office, and rude nurses or go to see this new dr. i really dont like all these things but the old dr. is really nice so im not sure what to do i called the insurance and they said since we are new members we can still change his dr. back now or else i have to stick with the new dr. until that time period when you can change dr.s? i need some advice please suggestions? i would really like to try out the new dr. but i dont want to go and be disappointed and be stuck with that dr. for 1 year! help please thank you :) in advanceMy son's dr. was changed what should i do? advice please?
I would definately check out the new dr. You may really like their office, the nurses and the new doctor! I have an 11 month old who has been going back and forth to 2 different doctors since she was born. I have been taking her to two, because I have pros and cons about both, and have a hard time making a final switch. If you don't like the new doctor you should be able to call your insurance company and make the switch back. Good luck!My son's dr. was changed what should i do? advice please?
Its up to you. Since you hate the office that the other doc is at, why not give this one a shot? Call and make an appointment just to meet the doc and get to know his practice a little bit. Worst case scenario, you can't stand him/her. You could just call your insurance agent and ask to stay with the pediatrician that your son has seen since birth.
set up an interview and see if you like the new doctor.. if you do it sounds better becuase of location and the other things you mentioned. your son will not know any better so its also a good time for him if you like the new dr. if there is no medical issues with your son there is no reason why he cant go to a family doctor rather the pediatrician.
I would much prefer a pediatrician over a family Dr. for my child, especially if I have a sickly child. However you can try finding out more about this Dr. (friends, google, insurance personnel, etc.) before deciding.
stay with the pediatrician. it sounds as though you all have a very good relationship. i have nothing against family practitioners, but i think children need someone who specializes in their particular needs.

My Dr. wants me to go on the birth control Yaz. Ladies, any advice? Side effects? Heard bad things about it!?

I have read some really bad things about Yaz from women who are currently on it. When I went to the Yaz web site it of couse glorified the drug. I am torn! What should I do? Advice ladies? I would love to hear from anyone that is on it or has taken it!My Dr. wants me to go on the birth control Yaz. Ladies, any advice? Side effects? Heard bad things about it!?
I went on it to manage my peri-menopausal symptoms, and it's been about 85% fantastic. My major gripe is that my sex drive has dropped a bit, but even that's not a huge drawback.

The plus side is that my periods are 2 days of spotting versus 10 days of debilitating bleeding (even on another pill!), zero cramps, no mood swings, no cravings, no crankiness. And I LOST 10 lbs! Overall, its pretty good.

But like I warn with any contraceptive, what works for one person may not be good for another. The ONLY way you will know for sure is to try it.

The blessing of the pill is the fact that after a few months if you don't like it, you can always change.

Personally though, I think you're going to like it just fine.My Dr. wants me to go on the birth control Yaz. Ladies, any advice? Side effects? Heard bad things about it!?
Here's my take on Yaz. it hasn't been out very long. Look what happened with the Patch- it wasn't out very long and it killed women.

I know pills are normally safe but you can never be sure unless it's been out long enough to show all results possible.

I say trust your instinct. Do not take anything that you're not 100% sure of.

I was on ortho tri cyclen 28 and am currently on Alesse and I've found that between the 21 pills of 1 hormone then 8 placebo pills (alesse, diana, etc) are better than the pills like tri cyclen that are a different level of hormones each week.

That is really all I can say from personal experience though sorry.

but personally I would not take Yaz just yet because it hasn't been out long enough.

  • I have a cyst on left ovaree, the Dr. said to remove it & the ovaree too, but I like to have kids...Advice?

My CA125 test was 51(3 months ago) and now is 77...That's why the Dr. says to have surgery... I m trying to avoid it, as I still like to have kids, (I m late 30s)... What's the best advice? See more doctors?I have a cyst on left ovaree, the Dr. said to remove it %26amp; the ovaree too, but I like to have kids...Advice?
I also had a cyst on my left ovary and was adviced by the doctor to remove the cyst and the ovary. The cyst was the size of a large grapefruit and my fallopian tube was twisted due to the cyst. I'm also in my late 30's and no kids yet. I got a second opinion and had the surgery done this June to remove the cyst. This doctor knew that I didn't want my ovary removed and she was able to save the ovary. So my advice is... see more doctors and get a second opinion because each doctor has a different approach to help you. Best of luck to you.I have a cyst on left ovaree, the Dr. said to remove it %26amp; the ovaree too, but I like to have kids...Advice?
I am definitley not a doctor but, I think there are a couple of things you can think about. First off you can still have kids with only one ovary. But if you are in your 30s you might want to start soon, adn the other thing is that you should ask another doctor. Don't let one doctor's opinion control the outcome especially if you don't like what he has to say. Even doing some research online about it could be helpful...but go to good websites like www.webmd.com or something for that type of information. But I do know that you can still have children with one ovary so if you do have to have surgery don't lose hope.
i'm pretty sure you can still have kids with one ovary???
You can still have kids with one ovary. My mom had two of us with only half an ovary left. And with the advances in fertility treatments, they can help you if you find you're having difficulty conceiving.
you would still have your right ovary, i think that would be enough.

Help! picked up fungus @ beach. dr gave me Naftin (30g)-1%. cleared up, now coming back w/vengence. Advice?

Yes! Go back to the doctor IMMEDIATELY if you haven't already. Spreading is a bad thing. Doesn't mean it's dangerous, just that they may need to give you more aggressive treatment or combination treatment for it.

Dr has diagnosed me with polycystic ovarian syndrome. any stories or advice?

The PCOS problem can relate to how your body processes insulin. This can cause issues with your weight.

PCOS is relatively easy to fix. The doctors really do not understand nutrition and so they resort to drugs and this is just not the way to fix this problem.

    This condition creates a high testosterone level in the body and causes severe acne that typical treatments do not fix, problems relating to excess hair growth, and a lot of people with this problem develop type II diabetes. 80% of type II diabetes is caused by a nano bacteria called ';nano bacter'; that develops because the body doesn't produce enough hydrochloric acid to kill the bacteria in your stomach. The same bacteria causes heart disease and kidney failure. The 50 billion dollars a year Americans spend on Antacids is a crime. The drug companies should be sent to prisons in a 3rd world country for this farce. These antacids destroy the very acid that will stop the indigestion. Lactic acid from rotting food is the real cause, not stomach acid! The stomach acid stops ';acid in digestion.';

There is a natural solution to the issue of PCOS that seems to work in many people.

A protomorphogen extract from Standard Process called Symplex F. Take 1 or 2 tablets per day for one year. You should be able to get this from your pharmacists.

Make up a mix of equal parts of peony root (Paeonia lactiflora) and licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and take about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of this 2 to 3 x per day for a maximum of 6 months. You should give this a break for about 1 week every 4 - 6. weeks.

You should eliminate sugars, breads, and cereals from the diet. These items cause the body to produce insulin to oxidize the sugars and insulin and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) are produced as a result. Elevated insulin levels lead to an excess of male hormones.

Additionally, if you have ANY scars on the front of your body from your forehead down to your anus, this will cause the cells in the stomach that produce the stomach acid to be subdued and you will not be producing enough acid to kill bacteria or digest your food properly. Additionally, an episiotomy scar can reflex to the ovaries and cause cysts to form like the ones that cause PCOS. PCOS is very common in the U.S. where women typically get these episiotomies when in child birth from physicians that have no clue as to the long term effects of them.

Once the scar is treated, the cysts typically go away.

My suggestion is that you go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and order the following:

Betaine HCL --- Take 2 to 4 of these AFTER each meal

Activator --- Take 1 to 2 AFTER each meal

Digest --- Take 1 to 2 DURING each meal.

Probiotic --- Take 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening

This will improve your digestion greatly. Additionally, you should check yourself for iodine deficiency. This can cause hypothyroidism and is a very common reason people in the U.S. get this. A simple evaluation can be done by you if you paint a golf ball size patch of ';tincture of iodine'; on your chest. If it is still visible after 24 hours you are NOT deficient. If it goes away in a few hours, you are very deficient. ANY fluoride you put into your body from toothpaste, shower in tap water, drink soda pop, anything that contains fluoride will cause you to become deficient in iodine because the body prefers the fluoride over the iodine. Goiters are not uncommon in children that drink fluoridated water. Get a shower filter, drink bottled water without fluoride, don't drink ANY soda drinks, not only will the soda drinks contain fluoride, but they contain phosphoric acid that binds to your minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc. and deplete your body of these. If you find yourself deficient, you need to purchase some ';Xeno Detox'; from the healthline company and take 4 capsules in the morning and 4 in the evening for several months or until the ';patch test'; works for the 24 hour period.

Do NOT eat ANY SOY! This also depletes your minerals (especially iron) and slows your thyroid down causing hypothyroidism.

In regard to any scars you have, you will need to extract the toxins to eliminate the reflexing problem. The ancients did this very effectively with highly energized clay. You can purchase this from the healthline company and they will give you instructions on how to use it. It is painless and only takes a short time to do this procedure and it works. Once you have done this, you won't ever have to do it again.

I am certain if you follow the above advice, you will be amazed at how quickly you can solve those problems. It takes about 3 weeks, typically to solve the PCOS issue by following the above.

    good luck to you

A lot of factors can add to pain. Age, osteoporosis, etc.

You may wish to check out www.hufa.org and click on pains on the home page. If the doctors can find no bone or muscle cause for your pain, and if you didn't over-exert somehow, then it may be biochemical in origin.

You may also wish to check out the info in your local library.

  • 4 years ago, I had an emergency c-section due to Placenta Abruption. I have a dr.s appt. Im only asking advice

and others opinions that may have had an experience such as mine.

    My 3rd pregnancy %26amp; c-section.

    # days prior to waking up bleeding heavily, I noticed a burning feeling in my right side.

Like a rip. When I woke up bleeding, I went to hospital %26amp; my dr. prepped for an emergency c-section due to placenta abruption that was very dangerous.

Everything went fine then the next day he told me I should make an appt. for a tubal because if I were to get pregnant I could possibly die.

I never had a follow up due to reasons that are private, %26amp; now I find out im pregnant, while on birth control.

Just some advice please4 years ago, I had an emergency c-section due to Placenta Abruption. I have a dr.s appt. Im only asking advice
Go to a dr. who specializes in high risk pregnancy...some people with placenta previa or abruption on one pregnancy don't get it again...you may not even have to have another c-section...

a prior placenta previa increases your risk 4 to 8%4 years ago, I had an emergency c-section due to Placenta Abruption. I have a dr.s appt. Im only asking advice
I would definitely see a doctor right away. Abruptions are nothing to mess with. I had one early in my last pregnancy. I was only 3 months, and it healed itself with bedrest. Then when it was healed , I could leave the bedroom but no stairs, work, lifting or standing for long periods of time. I have Hypothyroidism, and it is a contributing factor in Plactenta Abruptia. So I was told if I ever decide to have another pregnancy, it would be high risk and an abruption would be inevitable if I did not follow the same rules from my last pregnancy, no work etc.. So my point is you need to find out if you will be able to carry the pregnancy or not. If all is well, it will be a high risk pregnancy and you will just have restrictions. Or depending on how long it has been, things may have healed, stranger things have happened. Mine completely healed by my 6th month and was not even noticeable on the ultesound. Have it checked out so you can breathe easy. And always get a second opinion. Good Luck!
Placental abruption is not a reason the doctor should tell you that you will die if you got pregnant again. it is merely a premature separation of the placenta before the child is born. and even though the occurance of placental abruption increase your chance of having it again. this increase in chance is very little and in no way would make a doctor suggest that

there must be another reason for him to say that you will die if you got pregnant. do you have any other disease.

The only reason I could think of is that may be he anticipate that you have a weak scar at the C-section site. but even in this case. it is too extreme for a doctor to say so
I think you should make an appointement with a high risk pregnancy doctor right away.
Go to your doctor the same one you had before that way he will know exactly what went wrong w/ you before. You wont have to explain it to a new doctor. And your old doctor can take precautions to try to prevent it from happening again.
Depending on the reason for the abruption....I would get a 2nd opinion ASAP. i'm currently 38.5 weeks with my 3rd at the age of 31. My first was nautral (age 17) and my 2nd was an emergency C (age 23), due to placenta abruption caused by moving a marble coffee table the night before (listen when they say DON'T LIFT). I was lucky, as I was in the hospital when the actuak abruption occurred (shortly after my water broke). I was given a ';classical'; C and baby was just fine..thanks to a wonderful team of drs.

This time, the doctor has not been concerned. The ultrasound showed no signs of abruption and everything has progressed normally (so far). I was given the option for natural or cesarean birth and have chosen the C (scheduled for next week).

I have never once been told I would die, and the risk of a 2nd abruption is less than 20%.
    Here's my advice:

Go see your Dr. and tell him or her exactly what you told us. I have heard of others having another child after placental abruption. They will most likely label you as high-risk and you will probably see a ob/gyn specialist throughout your pregnancy as well as have more ultrasounds to keep an eye on things. Good luck and may you have an easier pregnancy and less eventful delivery as well as a healthy baby!
You really need to see a specialist A.S.A.P.

I'm not sure what happend during the placenta abruption, but it's not something to ignore. If the doctor suggested getting the tubal then you need to ask some questions and find out exactly what is going on. You don't know how far along you can get (pregnancy wise) before it could cause you major complications and maybe death. You need to be concerned.

    good luck! God bless!

I need advice for our class presentation (dr. faustus)

Our class is going to present an excerpt of dr. faustus in our language(filipino). The requirements of this presentation is that we all 42 of us has to speak most of the lines. So what happens is that there are angels and devils. But the problem with dividing the class is that the audience can't hear us from afar(this is very vital in the criteria). We wanted to find a way wherein all of us can be devils and at the same time angels. We know that we can differentiate this through facial expression, but i fear facial expression won't be enough for people to understand.

basically, i'm looking for a way where we can differentiate that at one time we're angels, then the next, we're devils. This has to be a quick transformation because we have to do all of these on stage. No one must get off the stage during the performance.I need advice for our class presentation (dr. faustus)
The easiest way would be to use a mask. Make an angel mask and a devil mask for each performer. The mask can be made attached to a stick or handle The performers can hide both masks behind their backs one in each hand (or one mask could be worn on front the other on back and the actors could turn).. When speaking as an angel hold up the angel's mask, when speaking as the devil hold up the devil's mask. If you all did this at once, in unison, with a quick snap and flourish it could be quite dramatic. Good luck with the performance. I hope this idea helps.

Note: If you don't want to make 84 masks, make just two larger masks and have one speaker hold it up, not as dramatic but would still get your point across.

Edit: What about lighting? I don't know how sophisticated you're production is but you could use white spotlighting while the angel(s) speak and red spotlighting while the devil(s) speak. As far as the masks, you would not have to hide your face you could just hold them up, or like I said maybe use just two masks as props.

Shoulder advice please...(prefer from a dr. or someone with experience)?

I have been playing rec. softball but as soon as I begin throwing and batting my shoulder/upper arm begins to hurt. I then pay for it that night and in the following days...in the past it will improve fairly quickly, however now it is not as quick to recover. In fact, I have trouble lifting, getting dressed in the morning, and misc. tasks like that. I have gone to dr.'s in the past but they have all said I am fine and sometimes I feel like they think I am overreacting, but will place me in physical therapy anyway. Do you all have any advice? Should I go to a different Dr. or should I just live with it and hope it doesn't prevent me from being too active? Also, do you all have any suggestions on what this could be?Shoulder advice please...(prefer from a dr. or someone with experience)?
I have been having problems with my shoulder for the last two years and they said that I had sprained and slightly torn my rotator cuff. NSAIDs, RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation) pt and the most recently I was in a sling for a few weeks. Maybe go to a different doctor might help as well.

I've had my period for 22 days, I've gone to the Dr and she wasnt much help. any advice ?

Please answer cause i'm like dying!!I've had my period for 22 days, I've gone to the Dr and she wasnt much help. any advice ?
Get a second opinion. There's something going on. You don't have a 22 day period for nothing.I've had my period for 22 days, I've gone to the Dr and she wasnt much help. any advice ?
Are you on birthcontrol, you might want to talk to your doctor about the brand you are on. I had the same problem. I found out that i cannot take birth control. Although most women seem to stop having periods when they go on b/c some will have the opposite affect. I was bleeding constantly on it. Right after I came off it I stopped bleeding. That doesn't mean that is the problem you are having, but that is what it was for me.
i dont know what to say is this your first period or did u skip some months did you forget to take your bith pills
i think u should get a second and third opinion, that is not a natural thing. u might have an infection....good luck.
you should change your Dr maybe you have a cut in your vagan peroid isn't more than 10 days
i had a light period for 2 months. but it was a side effect of birth control. my mom had bleeding for several months, as well. she had to have a hysterectomy as a result. i feel awful b/c i can't remember the diagnosis. one of those female organs were malfunctioning :-/ whatever the case, it sent her into early menopause.
Poor thing, its just your body is all. (I know, I hate to hear that also). I'd just saw relax as much as you can, stay actiive with activites cause it seems to maek it slow down for some people. Drink hot tea, and deal with it. Stress is a major factor to keeping the RED around.
I would definatley go to a doctor and get a 2nd opinion.
If you went to your doctor and she didn't give you a straight answer, I would seek another doctor immediatly. Something could be seriously wrong...you should have some tests done. Call and get a 2nd opinion ASAP.
I would need a bit more information on ';she wasn't much help'; if the doctor felt that it was normal for you, and you want a second opinion-GO! You can make an appointment with a new doctor, clinic or if you are not feeling well besides the period, or go to an emergency room.
ummmmm, fall down?because if you've bled that long-you're most likely dead.
Go to a different doctor. A gynecologist! Not just a family doctor. Continuous bleeding can affect your body....it can lead to anemia, among other things.
My cousion had the same problem except she had her period for 6 weeks and she went to the doctor and they put her on a birth control pill to get her cycles back to normal again.
Get a new dr. I had a gyn who couldn't figure out how to do a D %26amp; C. I found another oncological dr who did a hysterectomy (at my request, because I had fibroid tumors %26amp; have cancer in my family)
Well..I don't know if this is what you're looking for but it's kinda simular. My friend had her period for like 4 months straight. They tried birth control. One pill a day..2 pills a day..finally they did a DNC on her. That helped for about 2 days. Then it started again. They wound up having her on 4 birth control pills a day. And I promise you this..it stopped. All of a sudden on it's on. I don't want to sound gross..just blunt but she was having to wear 2 to 3 overnight pads to bed. I don't know what caused her to stop like she did but she did. So, good luck and btw, i'd have to agree with everyone else. I'd go for a second opinion.
Go to another doctor. They maybe able to help you.
you must go for a 2nd opinion. if its your first ul be sure ok. but if ur older then likely that u have major problem at hand. i cnt understand why the gyno dint say much. u must take an iron supplement with that kind of blood loss
If you are seeing a generic doc, like a family doctor, you need to switch to a gynecologist, a specialist for female problems. If your doctor is a gynecologist, you need to find another one before you become anemic. This is not normal %26amp; should be investigated.
Don't worry I had this problem beforem but I had mine for almost a year. I talked to the doctor and she put me on birth control. It not only helps with not getting pregnant but it helps to control your period too. So talk to another doctor.

Advice Please! What Should I Do About Dr?

Before I was on my hubby's insurance, when I found out I was pregnant, I called a local health clinic to set up an appointment and have started going there for my prenatel visits. I am now 14 weeks and everything just cleared with my hubby's insurance (Humana). Now that I have insurance, should I still continue going to the clinic (where I am being seen by a midwife), or continue my pregnancy at a regular Dr.'s office? What would be more practical and wise to do?Advice Please! What Should I Do About Dr?
You should go wherever makes you feel the most comfortable! If you like where you go now then stick with them. If you want to change then you are still early enough in your pregnancy that it wouldn't be a huge deal!Advice Please! What Should I Do About Dr?
Really? Humana took that long with you? Crazy, it took one visit with me...I HATE Humana...poor customer service, took me 6 months to get me my card and apparently denied assisting you while you were doing prenatal, should have taken 72 hours...oui...

That rant being out of the way, either or is fine. I am going to a mid-wife now. However, when going to a doctor's office, you may very well still get a mid-wife, which is what I am doing. I prefer going to the doctor's office, because I am seen by all members at least once and in case of an emergency, there is a doctor on staff. A mid-wife is just as certified to deliver babies, but they can't really do surgeries or anything of that nature. Do what you feel best with. If you trust and like your mid-wife, stay there. If not, shop around...and good luck!!
it depends on who you are more comfortable with. if you like who you are seeing then stay there. if you think you would feel 'safer' seeing someone else then do that. if you have co-pays on the insurance it might be cheaper to still see the midwife. but really it's all personal choice.

Dr. Martin Luther King - Respect his advice?

    What would Dr King have said to multimillionaire NBA black athletes like Dallas Maverick Josh Howard who refuse to respect the national anthem, because, as he said 'I'm black. I don't have time for it';

Owner Cuban said he would talk to him about it.Dr. Martin Luther King - Respect his advice?
Dr. King respected the National Anthem as well as the United States. He saw areas where things needed improved but he also knew that America was the best place for people of all colors to life themselves up as well as each other. He was actually a very brilliant human being. G-d rest his soul.

Hope this helps...Dr. Martin Luther King - Respect his advice?
Only Dr. King can answer that question, as for Josh Howard I can feel where he is coming from if you grow up black in this country you will have a different perspective on things like this, if for most of your life you are treated like you like you are not wanted on your own country, then things like the national anthem just becomes a song with no real meaning to you personally. To black people reading this how many times have you heard ';Go Back to Africa';.Those are the things that make you feel unpatriotic.Walk in that mans shoes before judging him.
If it were a ';religious'; matter, then I could see it, to me that is just ignorance on his part. Yeah you're black, your point? If it were not for the opportunities afforded to you by the United States of America, your butt wouldn't be making the money you are now, you and the rest of the African Americans would probably still be in the fields picking cotton, or worse, dead. Just because you have a talent and ';money'; doesn't not give you the right to be disrespectful. There are three things one should always respect, 1 God and Country, 2 yourself, and 3 others.
    hoos Dr. King?

  • Dr Phil...does he give practical advice?

I think Dr. Phil is a pompous moron who likes to hear himself speak.Dr Phil...does he give practical advice?
Believe he is in Tom Cruise state of mind, plus just loves to hear his own voice, he can be insulating at times, even Oprah has not been that badDr Phil...does he give practical advice?
    no
no, he just likes to hear himself judge people
When on TV, he is an entertainer. If I were seeing him in his office and paying upwards of $100 per hour, I would want him to behave professionally and treat me civilly. I see his whole approach as an act. I don't pay attention to his advice.
Practical advice....yes, if you can afford the ';therapy sessions'; he advises most people to go to.
I used to dislike Dr. Phil strongly, LOL, but I was basing that on the fact that he is a sort of spin-off from Oprah, who is not one of my favorites (she seems a bit too self-absorbed at times, especially when she's being ';philanthropic';). I started watching his show several months ago, off and on, and honestly, I think that the advice he gives is just common sense. The people on the show are usually so far over the edge of reality that what he says can sound like the Gospel, LOL! He does seem to run into some problems, however, when people are not impressed with him or his advice and I find those shows funny (embarrassing for him, though, I would imagine).
he is a ****** and only wants to hear himself speak!
Depends on what you call practical advice.
I have never heard him say anything pratical!!
It has been reported that if one goes to a taping of his show, you have to sign a release that his advice is not a guarantee of any type of treatment, and is for entertaiment purposes only.

Dr has diagnosed me with polycystic ovarian syndrome. any stories or advice?

I can understand what you are going thru, because once i was also diagnosed with pcos but my experience with this was very horrible, as I was given some contraceptive pills for six months to cure pcos and also i was overweight and having problem of irregular menses. and when after completing my first cycle of taking pills, I started mensurating continued for alomost a month with very heavy bleeding and pain. But overall after completing my course of six months when my sonography reports came, the results was normal. But don't worry everything will be fine. Try to reduce your weight if you are overweight. because being overweight is the root cause of our all problems. I am still overweight and now having a problem of thyriod and irregular menses.Dr has diagnosed me with polycystic ovarian syndrome. any stories or advice?
I was diagnois with pcos a few months ago after ttc for 4 years, the symptoms haven't change at all its just getting worst, from missing periods to no periods, from no facail hair to looking like a bear, from pretty cute gorgeous face, to and ugly bumpy acne face, pcos can ruin a women life and make her suffer from not reproducing, I would trade in all I have just to conceive a child, I went from being on birth control to help with the sympotms but it only seems to cover it up whiles I was on it, after being of the pill it went back to acne, ireguler periods, facial hair etc.

Try getting on metfomin, I started metformin and started to get a reguler cycle by just being on metformin 1000mg but 2 months later I stop getting my period, you should try asking your dr about metformin its really good for some then ask him to give you clomid if your ttcDr has diagnosed me with polycystic ovarian syndrome. any stories or advice?
*if you are trying to conceive don't bother with the pill to regulate cos that doesnt' help.

*Research 'Metformin' - and make up your own mind.

*its important to eat Low GI foods and avoid white bread, potatoes, watermelon etc. - also should research this.

    * Exercise is also important.

    * Maybe try to make an appointment with a gyno or a endocrinologist.

I was diagnosed with PCOS a few months back and it was really daunting. But the most important thing to remember is that everyone is different and their symptoms and the ways they manage this will be different too.

Does anyone see a Dr. here or they rather have outside advice?

i have a doctor that i go toDoes anyone see a Dr. here or they rather have outside advice?
I have to agree that way too many of the questions in here should be addressed by medical professionals. I've been in medicine for over 15 years (no, not a doctor) and I cringe at some of the questions that people are waiting for an answer in here for. Some of these people are risking their health and the health of their children by receiving advice that may not be the most sound. Also, I wish people would use 1/2 a brain cell and realize that anyone in the medical profession worth their salt is not going to diagnose a condition over the internet without having examined the person for themselves!

Also, is there a shortage on pregnancy tests? Do they no longer teach sex ed in school? I can't believer how many people ask if they could be pregnant or how babies are made!!Does anyone see a Dr. here or they rather have outside advice?
If you mean why people ask info online instead of to a dr., alot of dr.'s are so busy they dont make you feel comfortable asking question after question. Some people dont have health insurance to always be seeing a dr., others would like to compare what others have experienced or found out... Some people (myself in particular) always seem to forget to ask when I am at he dr.'s!!!
i go to my family docter
people probably come to the internet for support. Personally speaking I do have a doctor but it is always better to hear a simular situation and hear others outcomes and figure out if a 25.00 copay is exactly worth it or not

35 weeks, dr can feel baby head, cervix is closed... feeling pressure. Advice please?

This is my 1st so I am not exactly sure what I will feel and what it all means.

Today, dr checked cervix is closed but she can feel head and that the baby is moving into my pelvic area. I have been feeling some pressure in my vaginal area and towards my bottom. I know this could be from her pushing or moving lower... could it be that labor is close by or this is just normal for this time frame???35 weeks, dr can feel baby head, cervix is closed... feeling pressure. Advice please?
It's normal and will only get worse before the baby comes. Last month is rough.35 weeks, dr can feel baby head, cervix is closed... feeling pressure. Advice please?
This same thing happened to me. I hoped that my cervix would start to soften and dilate, but didn't until the week before I had him. :( This is all normal tho, least it was with me. I didn't start to dilate until I was 38 weeks preg.... I felt miserable, but it was worth it.
It's normal, but stay in contact with your doc, and take it really easy, no lifting, bending, and if possible, no stress. she'll be here soon, and congrats!!!!
If the baby has descended into the lower pelvic region then birth is only two weeks away give or take a few days. That is about right seeing how term is between 38 and 42 weeks.

39 weeks pregnant, unbearable pubic bone pressure, dr refuses to help any advice??

I am 39 weeks pregnant now and for the past 5 days i have had the WORST pressure down there on my pubic bone and cervix. My dr refuses to do anything about it because i'm only dialted to a 1 1/2. I can barley even WALK!!! Every time i move my legs or tighten my muscles the pain is horrible. I've tried the nipple stimulation and sex she recommended but nothing is working. I need some relief! Miltary Dr's are not the greatest apparantly they are cheap so they don't want to do anything unless they have to. My family is in from across the country because the dr said i was going to have her last week now they have to leave on SATURDAY and i'm still pregnant! I don't know what to do!!! Any advice at all will help. Advice on inducing safely that actually has a chance of working or at least helping with this horrible pain!39 weeks pregnant, unbearable pubic bone pressure, dr refuses to help any advice??
I had that happen to i got sent home even though i was having really bad back labor and contractions. I know it sucks but try walking, and also take a warm bath!!! it helps you relax. I my water broke while i was in the tub :-) and i was 41 weeks pregnant so i know how bad it is! the pressure is probably just the baby pushing on you, my daughter would kick the crap out of my cervix and sides. Once your dr office is closed just go to the ER and hopefully they will have a better dr on call!!! Good luck!! hope you have the baby soon!!39 weeks pregnant, unbearable pubic bone pressure, dr refuses to help any advice??
Call that docotor and tell her you need to be seen immediately and your going to keep calling until she does somthing about it.You have the right to be atleast seen even if you aren't dialated much. You should tell her that what if somthing is wrong with your baby and she just ignores you she'll fell like sh!t.
walk ,walk, walk and every once in a while squat down and that will help! it did for me. I know at 38 weeks you are big and dont feel like walking moreless moving at all. sorry. Do you have a breast pump? If so pump a little it could help. The only other thing that i know would be sex . GOOD LUCK!!! and congrats!
Unfortunately there is no quick or certain FIX for such things now. My first baby was on my tail bone at the end and caused me horrible sciatic pain too - I doubt there is anything the doctor or any doctor could honestly DO to relieve this now without inducing labor. I had that done with #4 and it was the most HORRIBLE birth of my 4 that I experienced. I do not recommend that!

Have you tried laying on your back with pillows under your hips %26amp; butt - it's an odd position but it might coerce the baby to move enough or readjust his position to relieve pain a LITTLE. I hear tha taking caster oil DOES induce labor - it tastes absolutely HORRIBLE and causes other physcial discomfort and puts you on the toile rather OFTEN if you know what I mean - but I hear it is a SURE way to get labor started. Walking is said to help but never did for me either..

Have you tried getting into a swimming pool and MOVING around that way? It is much less strenuous on YOU but might ease some pressure and stimulate labor as well. You're almost at the end - try to hang in there and be patient.... soon it will all be a long gone dream and you'll hold a new beautiful little dream in your arms instead!
Just walk and try and stretch a bit. Your doctor must be an HMO. Oh, I just saw military, yeah they are the worst.
Oh god you must be in agony you poor thing I used castor oil to bring on my second child as she was overdue take 2 or 3 big tablespoons of the oil in some orange juice it tasted horrible but it worked and as i was 10 days overdue it was worth it
I know it hurts to walk but any exercise you can endure will help! Best of luck to you and your family!

Walk a lot. Soak in a warm tub. And go to labor and delivery if it gets worse and refuse to leave.

I was experiencing that with my last one (#3 of 3 girls). My doc told me to go to labor and delivery. They blew me off and sent me home. The next morning, I literally almost had her in the hospital parking lot. She was completely crowned before we ever got there. I was in my hospital room less than 10 minutes before they announced the time of birth.

(This wasn't a military hospital either. I simply wasn't having regular contractions, and they were relying too heavily on that information. Never even checked my cervix.)
I can tell you what not to do, and that would be something stupid like take castor oil or try to make your own water break. Castor oil will just make you throw up and have diarrhea, it does not make the baby come any faster. Trying to induce yourself is highly unsafe and can cause complications or affect your baby, so you need to just hang tight. The old wives tales never hurt anyone though, the sex, bumpy drives, baths, spicy foods.....

Also, why would the doctor tell you that you were going to have the baby in the next week and you were not even dilated to 2 yet? He is not God, he does not know unless he is planning on inducing. That is just giving you false hope and has made your family come out for nothing. Tell him he owes you a membrane stripping! If you have never heard, the stripping of the membranes is supposed to thin the cervix and release the hormones that will help dilate you. It is quite uncomfortable, but could work (doesn't work for everyone so don't put all your eggs in one basket here). It is a medical procedure so you don't have to worry about harming the baby. He may not do it until you are 40 wks though. No doc will usually induce you before then.

I had the pelvic pain and pressure starting about 38 wks and did not have my son until 42.5 weeks--you heard right. Needless to say I have a new doc this time around.
drink rasberry tea. this should help. and i know it is painful but walking does help. have someone walk with you so you can lean on them. you are so lucky to be close to your due date. i am 32 weeks and i am so tired of being pregnant, but i will be patient.
I was washing the bathrooms - even though they were clean, I was doing it the whole day!!! hey, I went into labor at 2 am! I guess it worked! :)
I had my first daughter through the military and it was so bad! I know how you feel unless they see the babies head they dont want to do anything. They told me it was going to be two weeks till i had her but my husband didnt believe them so they suggested walking the mall. We did that till it hurt so bad we couldnt walk anymore. I went to the ER and told them i was in labor they took me right away and sent me up to labor and delivery. The doc still said it wasnt going to happen but my husband refused to take me home till they gave me something. Six hours later i had her! Thank god i didnt leave! I would go to the ER and Refuse to leave till they give you something! GOOD LUCK!
When i was pregant with my son i had the same thing, on my right hip could walk at all. So i always took a bath to realx myself, and now you can get massages that help reducing the pressure. Honestly theres not too much you can do. Walking helps you dyalate so try if you can. Other wise keep you with the sex, it'll help soften the cervex to dyalate more..
I am so sorry you are going thru this. All you can do is just walk and walk and stretch and try to hang in there.
Yes, I have that pain it feels like something hard is trying to push against my pelvic bone... I was convinced it was my sons head...

Dr. said there was nothing he could do...

Try walking up and down steps or squatting with your legs apart... Good Luck!

I hope your daughter arrives while your family is still there...
